a new 1ss around here stickers for 32plus. And the dealers around here won't come off a penny. (not just me either. I know plenty of people that have purchased around here.. the camaro is too hot of an iteam right now. they aren't coming off the price at all..)

Again I'll update yall with what he dealer tells me.. and then what GM up in detroit says about it all. I'm working tomorrow (signing leave though) so I'll be at the dealership in uniform. Hopefully in uniform they'll think twice about trying to pull one over on me.. just cuz I'm 22 doesn't mean I'm stupid. Ya I didn't catch it all before I bought the car (mainly cuz I'm more a MOPAR guy and wasn't that intrested in the SS until I test drove an SRT-8 then the SS..)

Expensive lesson here but, on the brighter side you still have a much nicer car than I did when I was 22 and in the military.....they must be paying a lot better than they used to.

When you go to the dealer keep your cool and have a good idea as to what would satisfy you.
They probably won't take the car back and kill the deal but, they might be open to replacing the nose or giving you some money back.
It will help with negotiations if you have a reasonable plan.

You're young, most of us have been burned by an impulse buy at one point in our lives don't beat yourself up too bad, it's better to learn the lessons from it early in life than later.

Good Luck!

Don't think he got hosed on the price, you just got a very low price for what ever reason. You paid way under MSRP seeing the base price for a 1SS is 31k without shipping and tax and title ...

Sad to say it, but when an uninformed person buys a car, most dealerships spank them.
why do I say uninformed? Unaware of any packages with the camaro models, what it should or shouldnt have,
saying a car with 15,000 miles is new.
the dealerships love guys like you. Hope you got a blow at the very least. However it is very fixable. Call GM's customer center and complain about the antics of said dealer, tell them they put the wrong nose on the car, failed to disclose the damage and when you get your survey in the mail tear them up on it. "threaten first, it may get them to do something, if they dont..... tear them up

If this car came with ground effects there should be a square silver cut out in the diffuser for the exhaust.

If the dealer messed around with replacing the bumper, I can see them adding only part of the ground effects too...

Personally I do look the mailslot's absence, but I'd have a word with the stealer to sell you a car "new" with 15k miles on it, and then having to find out it's been in an accident...

my guess on this is that the car was damaged at the dealership somehow so they kept it around as a test ride car and an occasional loaner car or someone from the dealership used it as his own personal car. 15k is a full years worth of driving. anyway they threw a v6 front fascia for some reason. I am sure this car has some kind of story to tell. 26k is a tad high but i wouldnt say you got totally hosed and you should know the history of this car.

good catch. Its early LOL
still feel bad for the guy to an extent, but if your going to buy a $26K car, I would think you would do some homework on it and see what options include what and KNOW what your buying.
the sad thing is with rebates and deals locally here, you can get a 2SS for 30K not much of a savings when you think about it

I wouldn't be so upset over the replacement bumper, I mean you obviously liked the look when you agreed to buy it, I'd be on fire due to the fact it has been wrecked. I can't imagine buy a "new" wrecked car.

The bumper doesn't really make me that mad.. its the fact that the car has been wrecked. The more I think about it the more I wonder if the wreck has something to do with the tranny going out.
The dealership isn't open today (we got like 4inches of snow.. and people here in the south don't know what to do when it snows.) I had to jump through hoops to get someone from service department to get me a rental vehicle through enterprise. I have called Chevrolet Customer Service. They ran the VIN and it shows nothing out of the ordinary. They have an investigation opened and will be contacting the dealership tomorrow.

How well do yall trust KBB? Because I have the iPhone app and I looked up the value of a 2010 Camaro in my loacal area with 15K miles on it and this is what I got for MSRP with milage and features.

keep track of EVERYTHING GM support says to you. I got money from them even after they said they wouldnt pay, all because the lady on the phone a few days before said they would at the least get me my money back from the situation.
write down names, times and what they said. keep a log.
Next time, do some homework on what your buying tho

There is only one V-8 for the camaro so why does KBB have two options (6.2L V-8, or 6.2L, HO, V-8)?

So, your car is a 1SS non-RS LS3 valued $34,460 suggested retail and mine is a 1SS L99 with RS, 21" wheels and GFX and sunroof and BA that I paid $41,000 (MSRP) and it's suggested retail on KBB is $34,760 with the same mileage. Doesn't compute!

That's what I was thinking.. I thought KBB would be a reliable source for decided how much I should pay for it, but guess I learned a leason.. KBB isnt' reliable I dont' guess..(also it goes by zip codes too.. ) the SS is still kinda rare here.. (Note I live in arkansas where the average household income is about 31k a year)

I do know that any nicer vehicle (especially nicer chevys) hold value very well around here.. I priced a 2500HD (07 4door.. power locks.. manual crank windows. no cruise. cloth..) with 50k miles on it and they were asking 37k when a 07 4 door ram cummins 2500 mega cab was sitting next to it with leather power everything and 65k miles for 27k..

One option is for the LS3 and one is for the L99.

The HO (or High Output) would be the LS3 The other is L99

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/wiki.p...specifications

Show some of the differences between L99 and LS3

Glad to see someone rewarding people for buying a stick!

my goodness OP here got owned by that dealership. car has probably been wrecked and repaired with the wrong parts. i'd be throwing fits

BUT. but. OP, come on man, you should have known the difference between the SS and V6 models. anyone with some knowledge of the cars would look at that for 3 seconds and point out the missing slot. hell, i'd assume it was a v6 with SS badges if you didn't already post the engine in it

Clear cut case of a customer going to a dealership without any understanding of what he is buying. People, don't like this please!

did you mention the huge accident it had when you looked it up on KBB? you have it listed as "excellent" condition, it is far from it with that kind of record

I'll admit I wasn't actually planning to buy that day (because I didnt' know my lawyer had my credit fixed already) and I was shopping around. I had test driven the SRT-8 (mopar fan) and wasn't very happy with it.. It doesn't talk to you. It's too luxury. When I go around a corner I want to feel feedback.

I test drove the camaro and fell in love with it. I wouldn't consider it an impulse buy b/c I had been shopping and planning to buy a new vehicle for months. I just figured my credit was still messed up and that I was going to have to wait for tax returns to put a big down payment.. but when I found out I could get it with no downpayment and decent intrest rate for my age.. I started to talk numbers. (I would have shopped around more.. had any other dealerships had more than one SS on their lot.. The dealership here in town has 1 SS. and it's over 40k.. plus they wont' let me test drive b/c i'm under the age of 24)

Next time I'll tell em i need a couple hours to think about it and drive over the memphis and look around. Lesson learned.. and don't look like it's going to be too expensive a lesson.. Customer Service in Detroit is working hard to make this right. I will most likely have a new Camaro by the end of the week.

And yes I am documenting names of the people I speak to and what they tell me.

Whats the name of the dealership? My Father is an auditor for GM and if there have been similar issues it could be subject to an audit.
