Oshawa (Impala line) slowed down for extra week

"General Motors Corp. is shutting down production for an extra week this spring at its car plant in Oshawa, Ont., and cutting 2,000 jobs at two other factories in the United States as the automaker scrambles to reduce output to respond to slowing demand."

"GM will idle the Oshawa car plant for one week starting Monday March 30, company spokesperson Susan Waun said. The factory builds Chevrolet Impala cars as well as the next-generation Camaro model."

I hope not, but reality is if, money is not being spent in other areas then you wonder what production cycles will be like moving into the 2Q?

One thing I do not like to see are plants idled then see a start stop sequence. That is a forecast of what’s to be. It may not happen at all and it could be extended.

Buyers are still holding onto their money, and not spending. I was in a meeting today with 50+ people and the general consensus is, any stimulus monies receive by these individuals would go to pay bills. In a sense, the bailout is just paying bills and merely a fiscal tourniquet.

Good news I guess but I would rather not see the Impala affected.

GM to Idle Oshawa an extra week...

WTF? Another delay...

General Motors Corp. is shutting down production for an extra week this spring at its car plant in Oshawa, Ont., and cutting 2,000 jobs at two other factories in the United States as the automaker scrambles to reduce output to respond to slowing demand.

GM will idle the Oshawa car plant for one week starting Monday, March 30, company spokesperson Susan Waun said. The factory builds Chevrolet Impala cars as well as the next-generation Camaro model.

Current management has to go. I'm not that busy- I'll go run Oshawa for them for a while...

un-cool as that is, it's better for the company than having around a thousand more cars just sitting on lots not getting sold

Only half that factory build Camaros. The other half builds Impalas. But if cars ain't selling and the lots are full, what is GM going to do?

Little delays don't bother me since I have no clue when I will actually receive my 2ss/rs.
I am banking on October so any sooner, and I will be pleased. I would actually pee myself if it were March though.

At least you'd be able to walk and drive; I'd have something in the way of doing either...

So, they are going to idle the plant, but forgot to mention that they are only idling the Impala porition? All of this when they have over 10,000 deposits for Camaro's? One would think they would need to hire extra workers and/or increase hours to make the Camaro and not slow Impala production.

We are getting bad weather in Texas right now, do you think that will effect product numbers?
