L99 to get ?? CITY /23 Highway mpg

I cant findanywhere which lists what the Camaro SS L99 version gets City, is it 18? But the magazine that said it was pretty outdated.. as it was still showing pictures of the amber tail lights.

I think it will be 16 or 17 city for both the V8s

my best guess would be like 17-18 in city unless you are really heavy on the foot then maybe 15-16

According to Wikipedia, the Gas Guzzler tax is applied if the car does not have an adjusted mpg figure of 22.5. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gas_Guzzler_Tax

Using their formula for the Mustang GT, which is 17/25 EPA MPG, you get a figure of 23.32, which avoids the gas guzzler penalty.

So, given that the Camaro also avoids the gas guzzler penalty, and we know the highway mileage number is 23, you can solve the equation to equal 22.5 (minimum number to avoid the penalty).

My calculations show that the Camaro must get at least 16.7 mpg city to beat the penalty. So let's say the window sticker will say 17/23 on the SS.

23....

How does the updated 5.7 HEMI VCT Hemi with MDS gets 27 and the L99 gets 23

I always thought GM was a little more advance in the AFM department, can't be HP cause its like a 15-20 HP difference

wonder if its the VCT...

Okay, I gotcha. In the future, then, reference the L99's projected 'real world' mpg figures (anywhere from 27-30) when comparing the two ... just to be fair.

I really love how the EPA works on standards that don't reflect the real world.

I just don't understand why the epa doesn't just go drive the damn car in the city and see what they get, then go drive the cars on the thruway and see what they get. simple, accurate, done.

Im really hoping not to pay Gas Guzzler tax... i'll be in a massive fit rage then pissed off.
Governments way to squeeze more pennies out of an already struggling economy.

The car though... is worth it. And hopefully it gets good gas mileage.

Not really...The manual in the V6 is very aggressively geared (4.5 first gear), and the auto in the SS has been tuned to utilize AFM.

What have you seen for MPG from your own personal calculations?

I have not really tried to figure it ot but the computer says I average about 18 mpg but thats mostly city and agressive driving but on a few occasions ive seen it spike to 22mpg but I would say that it is pretty accurate.

It is a great car im not sure that I will cchoose the G8 over the Camaro as I have one ordered but I will have to wait and see how I like the Camaro. I think it will boil down to 2 doors vs 4

It's rated 25, you can almost always beat the current mpg ratings if you don't have to much fun though, the SRT8 with more comparable power is rated 22 though.
