Trans-Am Conversion #00001

I figured you guys would like to see these pics and hear the story behind them. About a year ago I was doing a story for CarDomain on a used car dealership that literally had a hidden warehouse full of 40+ gorgeous 1950-1970s Corvettes. They had some Camaros too but their specialty was Corvettes and you'd never know it by looking at the place from the street. A lot full of old Crown-Vics and Impalas....who would have thought the surrounding buildings were stacked? Well, a couple days ago I stopped in to check up on their operation and after seeing that I had sold my Mustang and bought the Camaro, the owner tipped me off to a "Trans-Am Conversion" down the street. "What? A Trans-Am Conversion?" I said with a look of excitement and fear on my face. "Yep. The guy that owns it is friends with the owner of that there Nissan dealer and when his wife told him to get that shit out of the garage for the winter, there was no other place for it to go..." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I grabbed my keys and booked across the street only to find exactly what I was looking for (which is rare in the photojournalism world). Sitting right in the middle of the show room was something I thought I would never see. It was so much better than in the pictures from Google Images. I quickly got my camera and started snapping shots while talking to the guys at the dealership. After some conversation, I discovered that this was build number 1 of 6 and the owner had already been offered $20k higher than what he paid. What was this doing in the showroom of a Nissan dealer? How did I magically stumble upon this? I couldn't believe it but screw the questions all that mattered was what I was photographing. After about 20 minutes with the car, I gave the dealer my card and told him to tell his buddy that I'll gladly give him a free photoshoot....only to be told that the guy would probably let me drive it. 600 supercharged horses under my foot? Oh God....

Enjoy the pics! Let me know what you think.

I like very much. Whole reason I kept my 02 Trans Am was the rumor that they were coming out. Shit happened and Pontiac was MURDERED! So had to choose my SS. Oh darn! Now if it was white with a blue bird

I've never been a big fan of the flamin' chicken, but it looks nicely done. I like the hood and intake.

Damn that's beautiful. I'd convert mine in a heartbeat if i could afford it.

The only reason I'm driving a Camaro is because there was no TransAm.... I'd much rather show the Arrowhead.

I actually like it, although I don't think I'd OWN it.

I gotta give nothing but respect for the effort though. This was a conversion that looks like it was done very well.

I like it .......... modding is all about being different, and this most likely would have been very close to real thing, if Pontiac didn't go bye bye
