Engine experts ?

Last night my car developed what I believe is a lifter issue (I believe that's whats wrong). Lots of noise (tapping with a little screaching) coming from the top of the motor. My car was planned to be in the shop Tuesday to get re-tuned.
Now I'm going to need them to pull the heads off and see what's going on.

My question is, would this be a good time to go ahead and get my car cammed? What's exactly involved with a cam install on an L99?

My brain is thinking I could save money by having the lifter issue fixed and getting a new cam at the same time.

Thanks for the advice.

Two different locations on the engine so no there is no saving money by doing it at the same time. You do have the convenience of having the lifters out and not having to deal with them when pulling the cam, but its a minor step if the heads aren't off anyway.
