Am i missing something ? I thought they would be here sooner than this. Any clarification ??

See this thread and get ready to have your dealer called an idiot a few times over. Oh and welcome.

Hmm...thats puzzling. The general consensus is that the first camaros will hit the streets in april/may. As long as you have an allocation tied up you shouldnt see yours after sept/oct at the latest. That is of course if things go as GM plans, which I suspect it wont.

It's debateble. Do a search for "IDL" and sit down with a cup of coffee and enjoy the long read.

Its really weird, bc everyone keeps saying April/May, but the GM of the dealership was like, give me a $1000 told hold your #3 spot, and we will talk to you in October to come and sit down to pick all your options for the car !?!?!?!?! This is crazy ! I am so confused....I seriously thought they were kidding for a min, but he said no joke....they are allocated 4-6 2SS' , so I will be getting mine on the first set of deliveries but I just can't believe they told me that

Call Tommy at MacMaulkin Chevrolet in Nashua NH. He gets lots of allocations from GM and can answer your questions AND will give a good deal.

You don't live in New Hampshire? Not a problem, as I live in Georgia and I ordered my 08 Vette from him which was delivered locally after it left the plant. He can explain it all to you on the phone. Look on Corvette Forum and you will see that lots of guys have bought from him- he's used to out-of-state customers, which is why he has to give a better deal, to make you deal with him. Of course the markup and "wiggle room" is more with a Vette than a Camaro.

I promise that I am not married to his sister, don't know him personally or anything, but I buy from who gives me the best deal. After I shopped for a new Vette, he was the one. Don't care about the coffee at the dealership or how nice the salesman is, just the bottom line.

it is probably dealers playing it safe. I wouldn't want to promise a date and not have the car by then.
If it comes earlier, than good, if not the customer is not expecting it anyway

Also, some dealers are not allowed a lot of GM allocations (they don't have a history of being a volume dealer, able to sell cars quickly) so the wait could be longer for that dealer- that might be your dealer, If so, move on and find a volume dealer that moves a lot of Corvettes- they are likely to get a lot of SS allocations- MacMulkin like in my last post; Kerbeck is another one.

Hi and welcome to the site. Let's get the obvious out of the way first...

As Gotham said..."Your dealer is an idiot".

Now, on to answer the questions.

IF nothing else changes AND IF I understand this correctly, as long as you get your order into a dealership that still has allocation left before March 16th, 2009 which is the official date production starts, your order will be considered a pre-order (Anybody correct me if I'm wrong). It has been said by some of the most reliable source(s) on this site as well as info from the IDL that ALL "Pre-orders" will be completed by October, 2009. I choose to believe that worst case scenario says that delivery of the last "pre-order" car would be by Thanksgiving, 2009. The only other thing to realize is that since 80+% of the pre-orders were V8s, therefore, it is reasonable to believe that there will be a great many V8s being made on the tail end of the production window towards October. Exactly when ANYBODY'S car is going to be made and delivered is still just speculation at this point.

Now that all this has been said, the best advice I can give you is to shop dealers to find one that is on top of their game and informed. As others would agree in this thread, it does not sound like your current dealer is current with what is going on or does not understand the information they've been given correctly. Good luck.

So does GM purposely pick morons as dealers? Did these guys not pass grade 3 reading in public school?

I think the salesmen at dealerships only have to be good at one thing, closing the deal. No need to bother with pesky information and facts, just know how to push peoples buttons to buy that new car. I believe most of John Q Public goes into a dealership not know what kind of car they want, and the salesman push something on them.

The users of this forum are not typical car buyers, and should simply find a dealership where they are treated with respect. Eventually these uninformed salesmen and dealerships will be out of work and close. Eventually even John Q Public will start informing themselves before major car purchases, were just not there yet.

GM doesn't pick their dealers. They chose who gets what, sort of. Speaking of dealers . . . the closest analogy that I can think of to describe their relationship with GM is that dealers are parasites. They are a separate entity but they are dependent upon their host. Some are harmless, a few are beneficial. But a lot of them will suck the life out of their host.

The truth about the delay is they are all going to government employees. The current stimulus package has allocated 600 million dollars for automobiles. In the recent loan GM received, the agreed to allocate the first 10000 Camaro's to the Federal Goverment. So, I am afraid it may be a year before we get ours.

If your dealer sells 1 or 2 cars a day, they will be getting about 1 SS a month. That is how it seems to be working out since the calls have been going out this week for dealers to tag the first cars. Do not confuse that with how the allotment process was determined.

Send a PM to Rick Conti and he'll tell you how it is.

Your dealer is an idiot. When the opportunity for dealer idiocy comes knocking, your dealer is at the door. Your dealer's stupidity surpasses expectations. When I looked in the dictionary for "idiot," it said, "See your dealer."
