How do you think GM will react to the new GT500 having 540hp?

Like the title says...
I mean, is the General REALLY gonna let Ford take the bragging rights for most powerful muscle car off the lot for long? I don't wanna mention z/28 and get people's panties twisted, but...
What do y'all think?

Doesn't matter because if im thinking correctly.. The mustang is topped out... and the Camaro v8 will be 400/420ish with lots of head room to go..

Plus can we say PRICE TAG?

If Im thinking of the correct thing that is.

Although it is very pricey, it is far from being topped out . .as a matter of fact since engine is already built from the factory .. easy 7 - 800 rwhp with KB or Whipple slapped on .. turbos etc ...

that being said, you will spend more initially, but less in mods for more HP (but still much more expensive than the current camaro) ...

To the OP .. if Chevy tries to answer it .. I would like for something with F/I and putting out about 500 - 550 hp as well .. I would also think the price range is going to be about 45k.

I think GM should focus on staying alive and Market products that have already been developed (like the 5th Gen) and save any money that would be put towards a Z28 until they know exactly where the market bottom is for new cars. (It used to be around 17 million per year and has dropped to about 9-10 Million per year, a decrease of ~40%!!!!)

Without a reduction in the number of car manufacturers, this means that each car company must now produce around 40% less cars while also cutting workers and capital machinery the same amount... Unless they want to start increasing the price of their cars by 40%.

EDIT: In my perfect world, GM will barely pull out if its current position and be able to produce the SS for another 3 or 4 years, leaving the aftermarket/GMPP to produce HP mods...

My KB is 50-state emissions-legal, but I'm not sure if Whipple has gone through the process to certify their blower like KB did.

The General already has the answer for the 500KR.......Corvette ZO6........and the answer to the rest of the worlds exotic cars is the ZR1 the quickest production car to go around the Nuremberg Ring in Germany.

Really? When did the Corvette get a second row of seats? It's just easier to say that Ford does not have an answer for the Corvette and leave it at that.

What do y'all think?
At this point I think out best bet would be to answer with a street legal warranty backed supercharger kit VS asking them to produce the Z/28 right now. Seems a little more practical and would require less investment.

Depends on the options you choose, but base on the '09 is about $43K. Base on the 2010 should be about $45 from what I have read.

Yes it's street legal and the interior isn't all that bad.

People forget that the Camaro SS is the direct competitor to the Mustang GT. GM dosen't have a direct cometitor for the GT500, but who knows maybe in the near future we will see one.

Yeah it was...but its a track car...its not a street car...yes you can drive on the road..BUT...its an uncomfortable ride...its kinda like a GT3...absolutely for Tracks only.

The ZR1 is a souped up ZO6

And it still keeps all the features and options that are offered on any vette

I personally think chevy should concentrate on staying alive at the moment rather then building a Z28 or things of the liking. Don't get me wrong, a Camaro with an LSA in it would be sweet but for the sake of GM i would rather see them concentrate of getting better milage out of the Traverse, Tahoe, Silverado etc etc.

How do you think that Ford feels now that the Corvette has 638hp? This is really a moot point.

Ford fanboys can talk all the smack they want. If this economy every gets turned around GM will have a gt500 answer. There is one thing all you guys are forgetting about. When a car company gives their car a remodel or new model in their line-up. They never come straight out with the all out performance model for awhile. Ex. C5 corvette 97-04- z06 not until 01 : C6 z06 took only a year after launch. : Current stang came out in 05 - gt500 came out in 07 two years later. The Camaro isn't even out yet give it a year or two. Remember all this s#!t talking they are doing now and then just smile at them when they see a supercharged Camaro and all you see is a gt500 running away with its tail between its legs.

Most people seem to be forgetting that Camaro is just now starting production again... As where mustang has used the same thing and just added or subtracted to the car over the years.
