changed bracing for 3" exhaust upgrade???

Has anyone who's upgraded their SS had to change or modify the undercarriage bracing to fit the 3" pipes? And for those who used the stock bracing, do you have any rattle from the exhaust touching? Thanks!

I had the stock tunnel brace and my pipes would rattle on it. I changed it out to a billet aluminum one and no more rattle.

I have the Magnaflow 3" with the stock brace. It clears the factory brace easily.

Which cat-back are you using?

BTW...there are a handfull of Mfgs that make braces for a 3". Barton is one that comes to mind off the top of my head. About $100 I think.

Otherwise, I've read others just put a few washers under the factory brace to make it clear.

this.

a few washers and longer bolts. ~$5.00 at the hardware store vs $100+

Buy the washers and give it a try. Should be all you need. Worst case you still have to go buy an aftermarket brace but you won't be out alot on the washers.

I have the Flowmaster and stock brace. I was able to do my exhaust on a lift, so it made things easier. 1) You need to make sure the pipes are facing the correct way per the directions. 2) Once everything is connected, push up on the pipe while tightening them down. This helps prevent them from saging and hitting the brace. An extra pair of hands really helps, along with a lift and air tools....

I used the stock brace with NO washers and mine clears fine. It will only hit if I hit a big bump in the road, which shakes the entire car! But to be safe, washers are your friend.
