Backfire with wheel spin?

Ok. Quick question.

When I jam on it and the wheels give way, the engine backfires when the wheels break loose.

Anyone know why? Is this normal?

I AM boosted. If it helps at all.

What Ted said. You are building alot of rpm when the tires break loose especially if you have your foot on the floor. Nice problem to have!!!

Yea, what Ted said. I never get back fire unless I hit the rev limiter. You need to practice taking burnouts into second gear.

Well the ground was really wet and our driveway here at the office goes UP to the street and many times you have to get on it pretty good to get out in traffic.

Stupid rev limiter.

If you bundle up a bunch of orange hoses and stuff them under the gas pedal you won't be able to mash it as fast and you may catch a glimpse of the tach before you bounce off the rev limiter

(sorry, couldn't resist)

It took a while to come on because it was in a great deal of shock from the pegging of the rev limiter LOL

Quick question did you really hit the rev limiter or did you just run into an issue with tq managment. If the wheels start to spin unless you have everything turned off the engine will drop timing and close the throttle plate to some degree to stop the wheel spin which has been known to cause exactly what you are talking about.

I thought about that. I actually wanted to try it with the TC off but remembered that the two times it did it before, one was with TC on, and one off. I'm pretty certain.

It is kinda odd that the CEL would come on two days later. Plus, the wheels would still turn.

I was having the same issue after I got a an adjustment to my tranny tune and it would catch second everytime it was shifting so hard. I had some issues with some back fires and found that it depended on when i turned TC off as to when it actually would not kick in. I found so far that when I turned it off before I put it into gear i got better results. But that was just me. Try turning it off at different times and see if it make any diff.

Your tranny tune if f'd up. You should not be bouncing of the rev-limiter with a 6L80.
