Getting reports of lower pricing - Need Dealer Advice

For those dealers our there:
I ordered my 2LT last week @ MSRP with a $1000.00 deposit and since then I have talked with some friends in the Detroit area that have dealers offering $500.00 under invoice for Camaro's.

Now, here is the question: Is the deal really done at my dealership? Meaning, can I still negotiate with them saying look "xxx dealer is offering $500 under MSRP, so either match it or I walk (in a nicer tone though)." They are a local dealership with a good reputation and have been great to work with so far but I havent bought anything with them before so I really dont know anything else.
So when is the best time for this? Now or wait until the car is ordered and I have to secure financing? My thought is to wait until the car is ordered and then get down to the nitty gritty on the deal.

Just looking for dealer or people in the know opinions on this.

I really dont feel like traveling to Detoit to buy this car but if this is true its worth it,,,, even if I drop the $1000.00 [Which sucks in a big way].

HUGE difference between $500 under MRRP and $500 under invoice ????

I think what you are referring to is the dealership in NY which is puting $500 above invoice in writing.

Banshee has another thread on here that says Detroit dealers are clueless.
The first step would be to actually talk to the dealer and see what he says.
