V6 Vs. Some Japaneese Competitors

When i get my v6 i wanna know if itll beat the following ricers

Mazda 2007 Rx-8, Lightly modded not to the engine but about a 100lbs lighter than stock

2008 Honda Civic Si: no Mods, coupe
2009 Lancer Ralliart
2007 MazdaSpeed 3

I think itll beat all of these if im not mistaken, and it looks better than all as well

I am goin with 16 or 17. Who else would be getting a V6? And seeing as he is wanting to beat Hondas and Mazdas... gotta be a teenager. Its cool though, we were all there once no matter how "high and mighty" some of the people on here seem.

Here is the easy way to tell the age groups.

Age 16 - 21: Thinks their V6 is the fastest thing on the street and will actually race the Hondas, Mazdas, ect...

Age 22 - 35: Will laugh at the Hondas and Mazdas trying to race them and not waste the gas because they are straped for cash after paying the note on their new SS.

Age 35+ : Calls everything "rice" that they arent used to and wont race ANYBODY because they are "better".

HOWEVER, there are SOME exceptions to these rules, for example, a 34 year old with a mullet that watches nascar, thinks it takes tallent to race a quarter mile, and will race anything and everything that they make eye contact with.

I can understand where you're coming from, but saying only teenagers are getting the V6 is kind of ignorant. There is no reason to talk down upon the V6, it is an amazing motor at a great price. Lots of people from every age group are getting them.

I agree with kdbolt....

In the same paragraph you successfully condem yourself as being one of the "high and mighty" and forgive yourself.

I think he is speaking of the "racing" mentality for most. if you are getting the car to "race" (not on the street heaven forbid, is there anything more unsafe, I submit to you there is not!) those categories are pretty close I would say. He is not saying only V6 people are in the teens and the V6 is the crappiest engine every. I think he is just having fun with an immature question. Its OK, lighten up and have some fun with it, he asked the same question when he was 17.

Heck, I was asking that question when I was 30.

My 1987 Camaro RS has a 2.8 liter V-6 at 135 hp, I got it when I was 29 years old. I am now 50 years old and the New Camaro I am getting is a 2LT/RS. I am getting my New Camaro as a V-6 because my 1987 is a V-6 and also because only the LT's will have "RS" on them. If I choose/get the SS and with it the RS package it will have a red SS, except it will not have "RS" and I want an RS. I also already have a car with a V-8 in it and I do not what to have two cars that I have to put the higher grade of fuel in. One last note, A RICER is any car built in the Orient.

I'm with 'breeze 100%, and also in the 50+ age group.

The V6 is going to provide me with plenty of smiles, and pumping 87 octane help keep it that way.I plan to own the car for a long time.
I want the car to be my daily driver and the V6 just makes more sense to me. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/images...s/thumbsup.gif

I'm a few months away from 21 and I'll be getting the V6 - and yes, I will be racing it on occasion. If you've seen the threads about what the V6 can do with just minor bolt ons, imagine some more serious work.

The V6 will be very trackable. No, it won't have as much potential as the SS but it does have the potential to be as good as the stock ss for the same or less price, with no forced induction, and get better fuel economy and have less initial investment too.

I don't see what everybody has against the V6. Not everybody wants a ZR1 level race car, and the V6 will be very competent for its pricing.

uh, I'm almost 30 and I'm getting a v6 because it's got better mpg, and I am not some having a mid-life crisis, nor deluding myself into thinking I need a v8. Honestly it's a waste of money. It's cool only in a purely juvenile way.

This thread is all over the place. You think buying an SS is cool only in a juvenile way? Could you explain that further? Because it has a V8 and is fast, its a waste?

If you remove the emotional factor...yes. Think, real deeply...about the only reason a person wants an SS Camaro. I guarantee it's emotionally-based, with a rare amateur racer wanting one for regular use. Now remove that factor...and try to rationalize the need for 400hp, etc?

But I still want one.

So we have a slang term for Imports built in America - RICER. What are we calling a car built in Canada???

Dude...I NEED 400+hp. If I don't get it, I go through hp withdrawls. I get anxious. People look at me funny. I get scared at stoplights because I'm afraid that if I don't take off fast enough, the guy behind me will rear end me. I'm afraid that when someone pops the hood and sees 6 cylinders, they are going to laugh and ask what happened. I'm afraid that .....awe heck. Ok...that's all I can think of...

No. Seriously...

I want the V8 because I HAVE HAD the 98 S10 inline 4 banger that moved at a snails pace. When I press the 'go fast pedal,' I don't EVER want to get the "why am I not moving, but my engine sounds like it's straining" feeling. I HATED it. I expect an accelerator to make the car GO...and I really mean, GO!

And take it easy on those who want V6's people. There's NOTHING wrong with them, the members, or the engines. I REALLY don't want to sit here and see people classify the "TYPES" of people who want this or that based on the AGE GROUP. That's a GREAT way to start an argument and IMO, is discriminating against ALL based on the actions of a few.
