Better to supercharge or Drop a new Engine

I want to get the Z/28 but i dont know if it will be possible. So i was wondering what would be the better route? if i was gonna super charge i would wanna get like 575-600 to the wheels. But if i was gonna get the new engine i would go with the lsx 454, so i am wondering what would be the better route power wise, and cost wise?

You could always stroke it and then supercharge it. Pretty expensive, but I figure I'd put it out there.

more power with more cash.
blowers cheapest, pretty much guarantees you 450 whp. and you dont need anymore mods. or you can spend ??k for 125 wheel more. but be rdy to do fuel, intake, exhaust, cam, and labor. then god help you to get it to the ground. i think you need to rethink your needs/wants or rephrase your inquiry post.

A supercharger would be the cheapest route. The LSX crate engine would probably cost double.

I would do a blower for a few reasons.
1. the blower whine sounds awesome
2. cheaper
3. have seen many big motors go boom
4. big motors that don't go boom often don't make enough over a well set up stock displacement motor to warrant the extra coin
5. if you're into car shows you don't need a plaque next to your car to let people know it has a blower, just pop the hood

Ya but Ive seen many blower motors go boom. Let's just say Ur current motor is worth 6 grand new. Which is a low ball number. Then u put 7-9 grand in it supercharging it. Then it goes boom and with a current sunk cost of 13ish then 6 or so more to even get it running back to stock by replacing the motor. I'm currently in the same boat as u with my 69. I love the looks of a blower motor. But the motors not designed to function with that on it. So ya it may be cheaper in the short run then a built motor but maybe not down the road

To answer your question seriously:

Supercharge it now, with the included canned tune and no other mods. Drive that for a year, and save up for a built 427 (or the displacement of your desire) short block. The canned tune shouldn't damage the LS3, but will be fun. The short block will be less expensive then a crate engine, but form a great core to build on.
Then, when the funds are there, pull the LS3 and transfer everything over to the short block. You now have a forged 427, LS3 heads (which are ok), a blower and everything you need to put it back in. And, if you want, you can sell the LS3 short block to offset some of the costs.
Then, save some more, add the bolt ons ( LT headers, CAI, Exhaust) and increase boost.
Then, save some more, and do the heads and valvetrain, increase boost some more.

Lather, rinse, repeat all the way down the drive train.

We could use your block and deliver a forged 416 for $3875. The E-Force is $6595 for example. You take a little time and save the $2795 back up and then buy the supercharger and you have the best of both worlds.

Or for $6595 we can deliver a 416 that will make 525 to the rear wheels.

That sounds like a great value. Any chance you can break that down for us (me) in terms of the parts? e.g pistons, rods, crank....
