Exhaust rattle - Corsa Cat back just installed

Today I installed my Corsa cat-back on my camaro (L99). There is an annoying rattle sound at certain rpms. When im stopped and I rev the engine (till about 2000) and let go, the rattle stops. But as soon as the car is idle, the rattle is back. I think its coming from the brace that the exhaust crosses over. If it is, will washers do the job to give space ? If not, what kinds of braces are there to replace the stock one ? One more question, at about 4000 rpm and hitting the gas pretty hard, there is a whistling noise coming out of the back ?? Is this normal ?

My friend has a Corsa cat back and used the stock brace, he initially had a rattle, took it back and they tightened the mounts some how and has had no noises since. I posted a similar question about Flowmasters hitting the brace, I was told to have someone push the exhaust up while tightening he exhaust, and use a few washers for good measure.

Good luck!

You can use a few washers equal to a half an inch, placing them between the brace and undercarriage in order to create space between it and the exhaust. I had to do this with mine. No more rattles!!!

is it 3" or 2.5"? If it is 3" you will probably have to get a different cross brace or use washers...If it is 2.5" you just need to adjust how the exhaust is aligned. I had the same problem with my borla until I put the car on ramps, loosened the exhaust couplers, and used a floor jack to adjust how the exhaust fit on the car....

If you can get the car on stands, get under there loosen the clamps and GENTLY jack up the entire system at the x pipe/resonator. Once pushed all the way up tighten everthing back down. Once you release the jack it will sag just enough but not enough to rattle on the cross brace. It took me a couple times to get it.

Corsa :(

I had a L99 and had the same problem with my Corsa Exhaust. The replacement resonator hits on the tunnel brace. I used the spacers that came with the exhaust but it didn't solve the problem. I eventually got rid of the exhaust and went with another brand.

You can always wrap it with that exhaust wrapping!!

If you do as the others have said and raise the resonator up to where it contacts the bottom of the car, then tighten everything back up, you'll be fine. It'll settle down to where it doesn't contact the bottom of the car. Plenty of room above the brace after I did that.

Hardest part for me was getting the tips in the same spot on each side. My OCD was really ba that day LOL
