OMG Mods to turn my SS to a ZL1!!

Anyone else finding this a bit much and ridiculous?

Its like my friend who has a 2010 mustang GT. He went to San Diego for about a year and the last time I saw his car it was a bone stock GT - when he got back he had a Rousche. I met him at a local track and spanked him in a quick race. We both get out from our cars and I asked him, "Dude, WTF was that?!" ...No supercharger... Turns out he bought the majority of the Rousche (spellinglol) package off the interent and installed most pieces himself. He even has the big Rousche sticker across his windshield and the rims.

Anyone else sick of people fronting? Be it putting an SS bumper on a V6, a roof scoop on their camaro or trying to scrounge up ZL1 parts for their non-ZL1 car or even trying to make their little pony appear to be a real race horse?

Discuss.

its all aesthetics anyways so who cares put whatever you want on a car. some people just want their car to look nice. only way to tell what kinda car someone has is by lining up next to them. as the old saying goes, its whats on the inside that counts. i dont see why you are complaining your buddy did you a favor and made you look good you just smoked a roush

adding the parts = Okay (its just an aesthetic change)

Badging = not cool (anyone who saw u beat him now thinks less of Rousche, lessens the image of a better car)

This is a HUGE controversy with BMW's and the 'M' badges

I agree, that is of course when it comes to cosmetics, that it shouldn't matter what goes where. Unless somebody actually labeled their 6 as an SS. I personally considered adding the SS style front on my V6, for a cosmetic upgrade, not to front. It looks good! a true SS'er would know the difference as it wouldn't sport the SS badging. what about those that bought the RS and those out there with the non RS who get the oracles or angel eyes? even then, some still upgrade their RS models with color changing halo...its all personal and making the car unique to what you want. I considered putting an old skool bumble bee stripe on mine, but due to keeping with tradition of it being an SS thing i decided against it. That's a personal opinion though and wouldn't knock somebody else for doing it.

So in reality your discussion is really two parts...1. cosmetics and 2. misrepresentation. But i get what your saying and there will ALWAYS be posers.

Just my .02¢

Who cares about cosmetic similarities? Changing a fascia or hood is not the same as badging a car that isn't what the badges say, like V6 owners putting SS badges on...

The ZL1 has a quad tip exhaust right? Well there's been people on here who have wanted to do that for a VERY long time on their own cars, me included, as well as a few that have already. The Transformers styled front bumper? Also been done for a while.

Point being, cosmetics = go for it. Badging = Negative, you will be laughed at and scolded.

50 rwhp per emblem!

I also hear that if you put a VTEC badge on your car, it magically grows a Whipple.

I don't care what you do as long as your car does not SAY it is one thing and in fact is something entirely different.

Personally, I would rather debadge a car. Drop in the largest drivetain that will fit, and then go hunting.

I dig subtle. Big ass badges no matter who makes the car look like crap. Personally, I'd rather debadge than add badges. Except for a subtle "supercharged" script to replace the Camaro script. That's the exception to the rule.

Im all for its your car do what you want, but I do find it a bit silly that now that pics for the ZL1 are out people cant wait to get there hands on one even if its a wannabe.

I say wait for the car. Be patient its what makes this all worth while.

How many of you tried to make your honda civics or whatever look like a gen5 after the concept came out? Im guessing (hoping) none of you. You waited until you could order the actual car.

MISLEADING BADGES ARE A NO NO. TIME OUT CHAIR FOR YOU!!

i personally dont care what anyone does to there car. Front all you want. Most people are frontin all day everyday anyway. No one has integrity anymore.
10 pounds of makeup, fake tits, fake asses, fake lips, fake hair
fake tans, fake hair plugs, steroids, fake image.

Just take pride in being real and laugh at the lames. No real reason to get upset about it.
no one complains about sleeper cars?

The only real issue i see with putting incorrect badges on your car is if you actually try to sell that car and pass it off to someone as a different trim level.

There are things about the new ZL1 I would love to have on my car, no harm in that. People put custom aftermarket stuff on their cars all the time. But to badge it something it truly is not, is so wrong. It would be like putting a LS7 badge on my SS... People have put V6 fascia's on their SS models, are they trying to decieve people in thinking they only have a V6? Why is it okay to go one way but not the other?

again as long as it's not badged incorrectly... it's all good.

as long as the badging is still there, then I think its fine
If I went and put ZL1 all over my car, I would personally drive it off a cliff

So you could try to convince the insurance company that it was really a ZL1 and make them replace your 2LT with a ZL1?

Its ROUSH.

I wanted to buy a Roush spoiler for my 2005 Mustang, I never got around to it though and sold my Mustang when I got my Camaro. As long as the badging is not fake, like putting SS emblems on an LT, its fine.

I agree with the badging thing. I personally think the V6 fascia looks better without that mailslot (while we're on the issue of trying to look like something it's not......) but a lot of V6 guys swap out the fascias to take advantage of the aftermarket for front lips. Most of them don't have a V6 option and they don't bolt up to both.

I could be wrong but I dont think all roush have s/c. i think stage 1 is just inside and out side looks intake and diff coilovers, Then there is a stage 2 has s/c then stage 3 has a diff motor(I think)
