V6 A6 - Best tips?

I've seen quite a few comments on ways to improve the launch, what bolt-ons to use, etc. I'd like to see about creating a collection of "best practice" items that help the little brother run as good as possible, while still remaining 100% stock. No Bolt-ons, no tunes, no drag slicks or front skinnies, etc. The idea being: if you start with this, then anything added to the car only increases your performance.

So, what are the things that even a stock car can use to improve their ET?

(I'm specifying V6 Auto, but many of these might work just as well for Manual or even the Big Brother V8s. Launch technique, preload the torque converter, shifting mode, tire pressure, octane used, etc.)
