I have never done such a thing EVER, however there has never been a car like the Camaro for me to want like this before. Many including me have seen it, so I do believe my eyes. YES it does look awsome and for what it is worth the paint is fine, just like any other new car GM produces. As for everything else I am taking my chances, I am betting $35,000 plus it will be well worth it. NUTS NO, BUT the world is changing quickly,so we may be the last people to get a 426HP V8. This my friend is very possible.

Yes I did it with my 78 Z28, but that was only $6300, of course that was a lot of money for a 17 year old, but I paid cash. That was my reward for getting a full scholarship, so the college fund was no longer needed.

ARE WE NUTS OR WHAT?????? Yes... with all the engineering thats going into this new camaro.... No..... And I believe your right about "we may be the last people to get a 426HP V8" At least for that kind of money. Time will tell, but I didn't want to take any chances which is why I preordered one.

Did that with my 04 GTO. Wasn't "nuts"... slightly intoxicated maybe... but not nuts...

p.s. I at least got to see and touch one in Buffalo at GM Powertrain's Anniversary party last fall. Didn't get to sit in it though- doors were locked.

I think this makes us an elite class of enthusiast appropriately called "enthusinuts".

Seriously, good question. I've never done such a thing before but I feel that the legacy of the Camaro speaks for itself. I expect little issues here-and-there but the Camaro doesn't have a lock on those. It will take a little time to adjust to having a car with "hood" in my line-of-sight but that's about it.

I thought the same thing when I finally placed my order in November, but I kept remembering the words of the Fbodfather " KEEP THE FAITH "......

Fast forward to Jan 16 at the Montreal Auto Show, I sat in the car uninterrupted for at least 20 minutes ( I bolted straight to it bypassing everything else ), I crawled all around it, I felt her up...... and I can honestly say this car feels GREAT ... It's got KILLER looks..... Fit and finish is amazing.... Paint is great..... Headers will fall right into place....

" ARE WE NUTS OR WHAT "....... My wife thinks so, but I can live with that

Since I'm buying it for looks and I know how it looks, I'm not nuts :P

And I read all the reviews for it and made sure GM got some government money before I bothered ordering lol.

Only a "little". They have to go back Feb 17th to Congress and show how they are actually going to be profitable (viable) in order to get the real money...

The odds of GM going down are incredibly slim. The ripple effect throughout the world economy if that happened would be astounding.

IMO, you're already seeing most of it. How much worse can it get? They just offered all hourly employees buyouts. They're setting themself up for profitability one way or another and yes, they'll declare chapter 11 to make it happen.

I absolutely believe this Camaro will indeed be a fine car!

BUT, I would have loved to have gotten to find out how I'll have to adjust the seat to be able to sit comfortably in it with the sun roof, if that's even possible for me, (6'4, 227).

I would have loved to have been able to experience the steering feel, as well as finding out just how bad those blind spots really are!

The problem is, if a guy wanted to get an SS any time this year, more than likely he had to take that (sight unseen) shot in the dark. It would have been nice to have waited, but I was looking to get a car last spring. But because the Camaro WAS coming, I put it off and asked my Chevy parts department guy to get my name on their list as soon as they started one, (so here I am). Hopefully it will all work out okay!

It, to me, is not what I think, it is what I think of dealers and salespeople believing they are going to rape me $1000-5000 over MSRP for a car I can't drive, feel, touch, caress, see interior, exterior, options, option prices, pictures, pricing.

Are we nuts? Yes for paying MSRP or higher, yes for kissing the dealers ass, yes for playing into the dealer stigmata. GM is hurting. WE are hurting. Time to take charge and say, sorry, got below dealer MSRP and NO I do not qualify for any discounts!

Got my 2SS..MSRP $36,752, paid $33,522.

Nope. I'm not nuts. I just know what I want.

But yeah...I actually did get to sit in the IVER at Indy. I knew waaaaay before. But that solidified it. And now, after having to sit in a test vehicle, I just know that the finished product will be that much more.

I can't wait....plain and simple.

Only a true enthusiast would buy without ever driving one. I have a 69 I'm rebuilding, investing loads of time and money in for the last 12 years. I've never driven a 69 Camaro. This car was a pile of parts when I bought it. It doesn't matter how it drives....its a camaro.

No morality play; no judgement; just a story that the quote brought to mind.

I won't have the money for a while so it doesn't really matter. But if I did, I'd still want a test drive before buying it.

Rubbing it in, lol. I haven't sat in one, and I was sold just from pictures and this forum. But now after seeing it in person, there is no question that this will be my next car, and I will be the happiest camper alive when I am sitting in it!
