Everyone car wars is back! Once again Ford is first out of the gate but Chevy always wins in the end. The ZL1 was the Z28 til the Boss came back, now watch the SSX turn into the Z28. Mark my words!

That's not a bold prediction. It is actually quite obvious that some things from the SSX will make it into the Z28.

I guess I'm one that doesn't really care if they bring back a camaro with the Z/28 name when the ZL/1 is on it way. The only way would be if it had more performance then the ZL/1 which is not to likely.

Good catch, I got mixed up in my ZL1 and Z28 references, I mean the Z28 wasn't available as an automatic in 1969.

Some days I hardly know my name, much less what models from 40 years ago did or did not have available.

does anyone really think they will release a car factory with over 550HP ? As a matter of fact, yes, they will (are)
People think there is goinna be like 10 different engine choices this is NUTS And why is that nuts? Actually it would only be 4 different engines, not 10
why can't people accept the fact that the TOP CAMARO for the foreseeable future is the ZL1. That's acceptable, but faster isn't necessarily quicker
I can't imagine anything faster coming to showrooms maybe hennessey or someone but this is crazy everyone should be happy about the ZL1 screw the name it's the beast everyone has been waiting for.
You mentioned envy. If I was envious of a car it would be the SST Camaro. But I'm not, I'm happy for speedster getting what he wanted.

Envy hardly, for what a supercharged LS3 with suede overlay interior, butt ugly hood and front end. No envy here. I just want something a little more substantial. The suspension on the ZL1 is the only cool thing. Hp is cool, but is nullified by weight. So give me 500hp 480 lbs tq and 3400 lbs then roll it into something cool and exciting and I will buy. Call it a Z28 or what ever. I want a 4 seater at 50k not the 2 seater ZO6 at 75k.

Make a Z/26 for 6 cyl. and a Z/28 for 8 cyl. Turbo them both to around 390-520 HP and and be done with it. Ok, I'm joking.

IF there's a Z/28, I'm going to guess it's not going to be until 2013 or beyond, more likely when the weight loss occurs. IMO, it should REPLACE the current SS, the SS then could get a bit more potent to make headroom for it. There's more than one way to skin a cat and still have what I feel should be the intended pecking order.

Then again, IIRC, this is the first time in HISTORY that Camaros were made back to back years without a Z/28 in the lineup. So you never know what Chevy is up to. Just hope they keep it interesting.

You really dont know much about the LSA do you?

The ZL1 will likely be around 3900LB with 550+HP and TQ. And its dual mode exhaust means that hopefully people wont have to blow alot of coin on a aftermarket exhaust.

Why yes the LSA is a better block w/ some better internals (short answer) and why I'm not a expert on LS series engines your missing the big picture. For a car around the 50k mark and supercharged that's hardly ground breaking (stronger is better and for warranty reasons as well). The LSA adds weight to an already heavy car and the front end is still butt ass ugly. The car is far from what I would call cutting edge. I'm not saying the car doesn't have some good qualities, but over all is not for me. I lean more towards NA cars then FI ones. The 7 yr old 04 ZO6 with 404 hp puts down 7.9lbs per hp compared w/ the ZL1 7.1 lbs per hp. Use the same formula GM did w/ the ZO6 put in a four seater and make it attractive then I'm game. This is why there are more then a few of us car people who want something more/ different/ etc and look to a Z28 option not the ZL1.

The ZL1 will be using some carbon fiber and other materials to balance out the weight. The wheels alone are 20 pounds lighter a piece.

I would agree that the ZL1 will come in around 3900-3800 mark, but still to heavy. My 2010 is around 3900 stk. GM needs to cut down the weight by about 400-500 lbs.

If they reduce the weight (on the zeta2 platform) ~4-500lbs then you would complain about the price. That kind of reduction don't come cheap.

Hardly, yes performance comes at a price and a 50k to 60k is standard for a car of this nature. It would still be under the 75k the ZO6 is at currently. That's what I would expect to see, so complain no I don't think so.

Some need to own the biggest, meanest, fastest beast on the streets. Others long to get back a piece of history. Some are lucky enough to get both.
There's always a faster car out there...

As far as weight goes, Zeta is heavy, period. However, Alpha is only a few years off...
