anyone can give me advice or something on how to launch the car without dumping the clutch?

i usually hold at approx 2800 to 3000 rpm and let off clutch quickly but not to quickly while accelerating at same time,, just lots of practice , but i am sc and if i did it any other way i would spin to bad...there are lots of factors which would make a diff...if you have drs, coming out the hole would be entirely diff...so really you have to just get a feel for your car...and if you start to wheel hop, get off throttle...wheel hop is the hardest thing...it will break something ..good luck

I tried to hold the car at around 3K and slip the clutch but just melted the tires. My technique is to start off idle and on the last yellow push down on the throttle while letting up on the clutch. I start out with the clutch pedal up almost to the point where it's starting to engage. I ride the clutch out almost all the way through the 60' and it seems like the engine stays at about 3K rpm while pulling the car out of the hole. The clutch reeks afterward but it has gotten me 2.0 60's with no spin or wheel hop on stock psi pirelli's.

Hmm if you dont know what that is no offense but you shouldnt be drag racing a manual car yet. do some research on the basics first.

since i basically have the same car, rev to about 2,500 rpms and to launch without dumping you basically hold the clutch in its grabbing area longer to lengthen the amount of time it takes to transfer power to the wheels. if you just dumb it you send all the power at once which will just cause spin. you want to gradually, but quickly transfer power by doing what i outlined. a good launch will have a little spin but just some slight chirping.

I hold it at 3500rpms, hold clutch just before it grabs...let go of the clutch slow for about a second or two and puch the gas...My car launches pretty hard like this with very little tire spin for a sec. I havent hit the track yet but it works on the street. You want as much RPM as possible and dont slip the clutch to much, if it smells after 1 launch you slipped it to much. Go practice on a back road, thats what I do.

i think i missed something....why dont you just use the launch control feature the car comes with?

Looks like he has an LS, the V6 models don't come with Launch Control. I've got one, I know

You might want to try the "knee jerk" method. I had to learn this method to get my manual 05 GTO off the line without wheel hop.

What you do is hold your rpms (say 3000 rpms) and just lift up on the clutch (knee jerk) to get the launch started. This is done WITHOUT adding any additional gas. You DO NOT push the gas pedal down until your car starts moving off the line. This method works great to prevent wheel spin and hop. So you do not lift the clutch and smash the gas pedal down at the same time. You wait a fraction of second after you start lifting up on the clutch (car starts to move forward) before you get into the gas.

You can adjust your rpms based on the track conditions. When you're first learning this method you might bogg the launch (but you'll still run a faster 60' than if you had gotten wheel spin or hop). As you get better at it, you'll learn how to quickly get into the gas as soon as you feel the car moving off the line.

Absolutely.....I was getting wheel hop evertime. Put on a set of Spohn TAs and it all went away for me.
