What does CONCENSUS Mean???

I spoke with my dealer on Sat and he said his reginal manager called to say they are pulling the first CONCENSUS and of the 7 SS's he has PER-ORDERD (out of 9 total) they are getting ONE.

Since that will be my son's car I really don't care about the rest, but what did GM just tell my dealer???

My guess would be the most common model, type ordered. Ex. if 4 of those 9 orders were black 2SS/RS models then the one Camaro that they did receive would be a Black 2SS/RS. Just a guess.

Consensus has been discussed to great lengths already but basically it is a monthly event that tells the dealers how many cars they can expect to be able to order in the coming month. The first consensus for Camaro was this past Friday.

Note that it does not differentiate between V8 and V6 at this point- just total number for the month.

Basically, it's an agreement between GM and the dealer as to how many vehicles they will agree to take in any build cycle. Quite often, a dealer does not consense to enough vehicles and the GM comes in and asks for a re-consensus. GM has the right to adjust those numbers up or down by 10%. This way they know what vehicle lines will be ordered to keep plants moving.
