Advertising Fee??

In working a deal on a new Camaro are any of you running into an advertising fee? I was just quoted a price at $500 over invoice, but then an additional $750 for "GM Advertising Fee". Never heard of this.

Nope. But my first thought is Advertising?? What advertising?? I have not seen the first commercial, the website is stagnant and growing mold, etc. What? The Daytona 500 pace car is their idea of advertising maybe? How can they charge a fee for that...or the lack thereof?

Advertising is on every invoice so if you agreed to pay $500 over invoice, the invoice includes advertising. It's not for commercials you've never seen. It contributes to allof Chevrolet's advertising and is on EVERY new GM car and truck.

OK, does this invoice price include GM's Advertising Fee?

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...hlight=Invoice

Dealer Invoice Price on a 2SS shows $31,591.35 - Does that include advertising or not?

No, it does not. It's dealer's choice to sign up at whatever percentage they want. If you have a good relationship with the dealer, ask to look at a recent Impala invoice (or whatever) and you will see two numbers above the 310 amount (invoice). That will determine what adv. percentage they are paying (usually 1.5 - 2%).

That is always subject to change.

I have a question if you bought it (and agreed) at $xxxx over invoice. Didn't you at least agree with the dealer to show you the invoice when they get it from GM?

Included in the price list post...
EDIT: Information obtained from dealers advised Camaro5 that these prices DO NOT include a 1.5% advertisement fee which is included as dealer cost and is paid by the dealer, but passed on to the consumer. Include this in your price as well, as the consumer does pay this fee. ~Mods...

When I sit down to do the final contract, I am not paying this as I had to tell my dealer about this mythical vehicle that I could order back in Oct. Also they are making interest on my down payment for 6+ months.

So, GMS/GSU deals get charged advertising also?

Good luck. I don't like it anymore than you but if they have to pay it then of course it gets added on. Honestly, I never cared what the "hard" number was once I had the "over invoice" confirmed in writing. I know it's considerably cheaper than MSRP which is what I was at. Yes, I'm absolutely positive the dealer will show you the invoice to back it up.

? Will the MSRP then also differ from what we see or will there be that much less between MSRP and invoice?

When the dealer sells a vehicle at GMS/GSU, they get reimbursed for adv. charges from GM. If you buy at those prices and use the proper authorization number, the selling price must match (or be below) the price listed on the invoice so the advertising doesn't come into play.

I haven't made a deal yet, just checking the facts. Dealer has agreed to show all the invoice information on the vehicle I order. I had just never heard of an advertising fee being added in so I wanted to ask how that factored in.

Also, dealers won't know GSU pricing until March 16th when production starts so there's no way to know on that.

If they are entitled to any of the "supplier" priced programs, the deal is the same for the dealer. College Grad, Credit Union, etc.

However, if there is a GM card involved on the GM Extended Family card is compatible with certain supplier priced programs (unless they do a "Supplier Pricing for Everyone" deal).

Thanks. So the advertising is "rebated" even on f&f ?
