Just announced!! (January 09) Additional stripe packages are coming!!! Will update as soon as this information is available!!

UPDATE: HOTRIDES1 has posted the following from the GM parts database (NOTE: NO RPO CODES YET AVAILABLE, so consider the change TENTATIVE. More specific info. should be coming in the early March IDL.)

I ordered the black rally stripes originally, but have since cancelled them when it was revealed that they would be "short". I am planning to have them painted on later.

Do we have any idea what these "additional" stripe packages are going to be? It was mentioned on January 9th, which was over a month ago (and its getting close to the deadline for changes I would guess). Are they going to release longer stripes? And am I correct in thinking that all rally stripes are now going to be factory install, and not dealer?

I imagine it's the - more stripes or all stripes installed at the factory. Plus, Hylton had also said he was told the Hockey Stick stripe package was going to be split apart into separate Hockey Stick and center Hood Stripe packages.

Sorry, I know, it's not brand new info. but nonetheless some I thought a lot of people may not have seen, and reassurane there are stripe changes coming, hopefully, before production begins. Like, a small ray of sunshine in the cloudy ABL atmosphere.

If they announce they will release black factory-installed LONG rally stripes I would certainly feel a lot better about the ABL situation, but whatever the stripe changes are, I hope they announce them sooner rather than later...before it's too late to add them

It has been all along...you can either order just the Hockey Stripes, or the combo Hood stripe and Hockey stripe... At least My dealer asked if I was interested in either one of those...

No, your dealer is wrong. It has been the Hood and Hockey Stripe Package only, unless he can produce an LPO code? The attached is as of Jan. 30th.

Fantastic - I had not made up my mind on a strip package. But now, with the hockey sticks available as stand alone stripes, I think I have found the stripes I'd like.

I spoke to Scott in Philly. I told him I would want to get the black rally stripes installed from the factory. He replied that it wouldn't happen anytime soon, especially for preorders.

Well, now I'm not the authority on stripes, Hylton is, but I am sure he said he was told they are splitting the Hockey/Hood apart. Hopefully it works out that way.

OMG I never paid any attention to the stripes in the catalog. My apologies, sir!

Well then, I guess we have definitive proof here - Your dealer is NOT an idiot! Ha!Ha! And I suppose that bodes well for LPO, maybe even RPO split stripes becoming available soon, although after what Croathlete said above I'm not overly optimistic. Just when I thought we had something to look forward to.....

I think you'd be suprised, but there would be just as many people upset if they lengthened the stripes. I know I would, they look great the way they are now.

All these packages are in fact available over the counter at the dealer but they are not LPO's. This means that the above parts, if ordered at the same time you order your car, will not show up in the cars buildsheet or window sticker. Not a big deal for some but for a collector like me, it is important.

With respect to Rodrunners comments, we will not know anything until the next IDL which is sometime at the beginning of next month. They did say that more striping options will be available but we don't yet know if that means more styles or if it means a change to who will be responsible for installing them.

I will say however, that a dealer here has been told that they will not be installing the rally stripes and an Oshawa employee has stated that the plant is currently hiring stripe applicators.

Let's just wait until the next IDL before assuming anything. There may be a benefit of not being in the first pull afterall.

After much debate on here I went to see a trusted paint shop today.

When I told him the retail price we would pay he advised I get them from GM.

He suggested for the same money he would charge me to layout/paint/clear them I could replace them 3 times from GM. He thought the quality of late was excellent and IF there was a problem the warranty will cover it.

If a rock chip gets them ...much cheaper to fix than paint.

I went ahead and made the plunge and got black ralley stripes even though they don't go over the rear spoiler. It was a lot cheaper than getting them painted on and I have other things to spend money on besides stripes. I'm not the richest guy on here but would have loved to got this the way I really wanted it but it will look good anyway.

Now that sounds like straight talk. Thanks, GTO! Many on here are of a mind they can have stripes painted on for a few hundred bucks, and I've been thinking...yeah, maybe Earl Scheib stripes.
