Maybe the fuse is out? Or the trunk is already open.

Did you forget to plug it back in if you removed the door panel.

Do the buttons for the window on the door work? I think they run off of the same wire, but I'm not too sure...

alright, this might be stupid but is there an option to disable the trunk button on the door? You know like being able to disable the "automatic door unlock" when you put the car in park. Don't have access to my car right at this moment, can't recall all of the settings that can be changed through the radio.

went through the radio settings already, i didnt find anything.. im guessing the only thing it can be is a bad button.. at this point i cant figure it out, so im just gonna make a appointment and take it to the dealer next week..

Mine quit working a few months ago. Took it to the dealer, had to replace the button....go figure. Works great now.

Is the door open and is the car in park? (automatic trans) If not - it will not open the trunk.

Door has to be open? With our Malibu, the car just has to be in park.

Not in my car. I use mine all the time with the door closed and it works just fine. Can't say on the park thing, I have a standard trans.

When I installed my silver door inserts my trunk botton fell apart. They are chinsy.

I can't say I have ever tried to use it with the engine NOT running and the door shut. Other then that, door open or shut it still works.
