The steering knuckle in the Camaro is larger that the G8, so no they won't work. Your friend could get a set of G8 GXP shocks which are FE3, like the Camaro SS, and they'll fit. Also, the Camaro has a different upper strut mount.

G8 rear shock length (eye to pin) 437.9mm
G8 rear shock eye bolt M12

Camaro rear shock length (eye to pin) 414.1mm
camaro rear shock eye bolt M14

G8 Front spindle bolt spacing 58mm
G8 spindle tab spacing 25.6mm
G8 upper mount diameter 102mm

Camaro front spindle bolt spacing 85.5mm
Camaro front spindle tab spacing 30.6mm
Camaro upper mount diameter 122mm

Not sure on the damping difference

The front strut mount is completely different from the G8 to the Camaro too.
