I've seen some chrome paint that can't be cleared. If you do clear it, it stops looking like chrome. Protective film was one solution.

I know who keyed my car.

Next door neighbor.

How do I know this?

My gut.

I was installing my new taillights from 2SSRS, same look as the old ones just an updated design, (yes I will get pictures later) when he came out saying how he saw the damage (because my trunk was open the scratches were up for everyone to see) coming back from class yesterday. This is our conversation, italics indicate his body language.

him: saw the damage coming back from class yesterday. It sucks that you have no idea who did it.

Me: no, I know who did it. I have them on video.

him: *surprised* camera? Like on the side of your house or something?

Me: No, I have a dash cam. 'bout a month ago the same guy keyed the side of her and so I figured I'd get a camera and catch him on tape if he did it again.

him: *walks closer to Kaylee and me* so what do you think's going to happen when you figure out who it is? *glances down at ground*

Me: Well I already handed the video over to the police, so they'd probably handle it. Which I can't wait for honestly, I am not happy about having to pay to repair all of this.

him: *starts getting frigidity* (IMHO) well it can't cost that much to fix it. What, a little over a grand?

Me: No. It's probably going to be about 4 grand in total.

him: *not making eye contact for this entire part* Man, that's a lot. Well you definitely must have pissed someone off. *starts to walk off*

Me: don't really know what I did to piss them off, but now I'm pissed off.

Oh wow! Yeah man, that sucks... seems like guilt was pouring from him the way you described that. Does he have a goatee? (Or did he?)
I'd still let her sit at home when you get the chance though IMHO...

Here's the thing though: Chris informed me that there are some dust specs in the paint (you can sorta kinda tell from the photos), in his opinion he said it'd be best to repaint them. Main reason being that the panels were painted so that I still have ABL (which is a big deal to me - I'm not giving it up), however if he were to repaint them then I would lose the ABL. So I told Chris to send them to me and I'll install them and see what I think. If the dust specs really do bug me (I don't think they will) then I can send them back to get repainted.
Those look good! I still have some stuff I need to discuss with Chris that I wanna get done... interior door handles and MGW shifter stick. They'll be next winter's projects though.

Don't worry about it. I really appreciate you taking a look at it regardless.

buzzed haircut. So that works with the video. Then what I and my housemates got when we watched the video (hooked it up to his 42" HD TV and messed with the settings) was that the guy is wearing a red hoodie.

Maybe hand him a fake paper showing he has to pay for the repairs and see what he does?

Hmmmmm.....I REALLY like the 1st one. But for some reason I think this will be more satisfying.

No shit...

Take your neighbors picture and take it to the police.

While your gut isn't proof enough, having the police go and talk to him might help. 4k in damages is, again, a felony charge. Dude will FREAK...

I got a nice present in the mail today I won Lingenfelter's eNewsletter contest last week. My prize - a detailing bag full of Mother's products. Now I'm an Adam's man and I will swear up and down that Adam's > Mother's. But who'd complain about free detailing supplies
