"Lambo Doors..." >_O

Today is a sad, sad day in Camarodom.. I found out that an underclassmen and Marine Corps reservist is planning to put LAMBO DOORS on his 97 6cyl 4th gen. Car may need a little TLC..maybe an LS2 swap..but NOT LAMBO DOORS. I actually called him out in front of a bunch of classmates, and called it..and I quote:

"What you are going to do to this car... is a Sin. THOSE [Lambo Doors] are a SIN against the Camaro, and all that it stands for."

Needless to say, a few of them had their jaws drop.. I just smugged, because I knew I was right. It may be a 6..but it's still a Camaro. And NO Camaro deserved to be defiled with LAMBO DOORS. I also have no idea how he was going to accomplish it when it was also equipped with T-Tops. It's a pity my Exploder is still in my fathers name for insurance purposes, otherwise I'd trade it off in a heartbeat just to keep that poor warhorse from undergoing such..an atrocity.

I don't even like those stupid doors on lambos, much less on other cars. The only directions I'm interested in seeing doors open are the normal way, and suicide.

lambos dont even have lambo doors, they either have normal doors or scissor doors.

Exactly. He isn't doing Scissor or Suicide.. He said "Lambo Doors..like those tricked out cars."

I almost throttled his ass right then and there in the parking lot..

I never understood the appeal of "Lambo style" doors.

They don't appear to ease accessability, and aside from "being different", I don't see the reasoning.

It's his car...I can't really blame him for doing whatever he wants to it. Unless it looks like ass, then I will complain.

I know.. But I'll probably tell him that if he does indeed go the lambo route, do it right. As in wait until you get out of school in order to pay for a good body shop to rework the doors. Then recondition the paint, clean up the front and rear clips, and tear out the drive train.

The car has potential.. but I still irk at the thought of him putting lambos on the car.

I may be putting lambo doors on my fifth generation Camaro to get some attention. I'll be backing them up with some serious performance, though.

i'm not sure if the scissors would look good on the 5th gen. I've seen them on the 4th gen, and they don't look too bad, as long as you get good hinges...

A co-worker has them on his 2001 GT vert. I think it looks stupid. The only cars that look right with them are Lambo's themselves.

I'm 6'3" tall, havig doors that stuck up that high wouldn't be a problem. unless you are parking the camaro under a beam that's just above the roof line.

plus, scissor doors allow you to get in your car when the @sshole that parked next to you parked to dang close.

this would be one excuse to have them

which is exactly why lamborghini started using them. the car's so wide, they didn't want getting in & out while in a parking space to be a pain

thats why they started making rear hatches on the f-bodies... so you could climb in the back when people park too close to you.

ive bashed peoples doors before when they park like that next to me. especially when its blatant, purposeful parking, over the line as close as they can get, to the point where they had to back up and re align with some one guiding them to get that close...... then ill flatten their tires on the other side so their car leans away from mine giving me extra room.

^^

if someone's over the line & i have to park next to them, i'll get as close to them within the lines of my spot as i can, especially if it blocks their driver door. i'll just get out on the passenger side or even through the back glass if i have to.

thats one thing I like about having a big truck. if I really want to, I can leave the back of the truck hanging out behind their car so they cant back up.

I think the Delorean style doors would be acceptable, but "lambo" doors are pretty lame

Please please please dont defile the 5th or any generation with lambo doors. Lambo doors belong on a Countach and thats it.

I LOVE, the rear hatches! From what I see, Fifth gen's won't have them right? (sorry to be off topic).

Nope, the design of the 5th has gone back to the old small trunk hatch of the 1st and 2nd generations. But it hides a huge ass trunk, that can be expanded to the back seat when you flip the rear seat down.

As for his car, I saw more of it since I posted the story. He needs some serious interior and driveline work, as it's just ratty and tattered. He still loves it through and through, though.. a Camaro-ite to the end. I'll have to point out C5 to him after spring break. I have convinced him to look into an LS1 swap first though, due to part interchangeability.
