Vararam update after weak MAF replaced!

So I received my new MAF today via 2 day UPS thanks to Steve over at Vararam. The new MAF is a "K22" as opposed to my weak meter which has just a single letter "V". I didn't bother to check my MAF prior to the installation of my Vararam because I figured since my SS is a 2011, I didn't need to worry. Well, lesson learned. The weak meters are still usable to GM as long as they are used in completely stock OEM applications. As soon as you do a mod, the meter gives you problems. It would hesitate to accelerate, and felt like it wanted to die on me. Well as soon as I installed the new one, I fired her up and took her for a drive. The issues I was having were immediately corrected, she drove like a rocket! Even my Corsa catback, that I had installed Monday, sounds deeper. There is no longer any hesitation, and I was able to get the tires rippin and tearin real easily. I'm very happy with the VR system, and the customer service I received from Vararam. If you are considering this intake, CHECK THE MAF!!!

It will have a one-letter code on it (you'll have to take it out of the intake to find it). A good one has both a letter and a number... I have one of the cr*ppy ones too; 'looks like I'll be ordering a good one soon also.

I am about to put an order in for some other GM parts... it would be nice to have the part # for the new one if anyone has it.

Edit:

guessing mine is a "W"

can they fit "K22" in that little space?

Yes yours in a "W". The "K22" on mine is horizontal, but my "V" was vertical like yours. Vararam has them for $89. Give them a call.

Here is much more info. http://www.vararam.com/camaro.html

I wouldn't order this from GM if I were you. These weak MAF sensors are within acceptable GM tolerance for operation, meaning you could get another one with the same issue. That's why 2011's and most likely, 2012's will still see some of these sensors.

For most, this MAF works fine. It's only with an aftermarket cold air intake that increases flow enough that the weak meter can't compensate.

Is there an aftermarket meter that would be even better? ... or is GM pretty much it?

So I guess Vararam found a way to order only the units with the multipe digit codes.

Part# 15865791

Make sure you talk to someone and ask them to verify it has a letter and number.

Had to replace mine before install. Vararam quoted me a price of $89. plus shipping.

Try here. Patrick will beat that price.
