What is a "full Exhaust"?

Hey everybody, i'm confused and I really wanted to do something special for my baby sitting in the garage. I been planning on doing some exhaust work for my SS, but i have only gotten the resonator deleted. It is a l99 and I was wondering what is a "full exhaust" system and what does it come with when you order it? I am seeing on websites that sell them that they are running almost near the 1,000 dollar mark??? are they great for adding power? I live in California so i would love to get one of these. How much power can you pick up from a full system?

you have alot of reading to do.

full exhaust:
long tube headers
high flow cats
xpipe
connection pipes
mufflers
... ~35 HP

catback exhaust
xpipe
connection pipes
mufflers
... 0 HP

axleback
mufflers
... 0 HP

a good full system is more then 1000. you get great gains with a full system and a tune and a good intake. a resonator delete far from a full system

your location says NY

in Cali you better be careful about anything you add. Axleback or catback will probably be your limit... they are just for sound. Headers and cats will get the exhaust flowing better (hence more HP), but the exit gas is nastier since the gas doesn't spend as much time with the catalyst in the cats... and then you fail the smog test.

yeah, find someone who won't check visual inspection. There are some out there, and just make sure your car will pass the sniffer.

A full exhaust is pretty much upgrading everything from the motor to the tail lights. $1,000 dollars won't even scratch the surface to do it right.

It's more like 400-500 in the past year or so. I'm glad we don't have to smog for 5 years.

Not necessarily, my full exhaust system was $750 shipped! The deals are out there, you just have to find them.

A full catback =s no hp gains? I thought a catback gains something like 10 hp. The stock system doesn't restrict anything vs an aftermarket?

From my understanding with you being out in CA your best bet is to get some High Flow cats and a cat-back. You'll also benefit from a tune.
