Too Much???

Hey everyone just joined the site, have been lurking for about a month now since my previous vehicle got totaled, and now want to purchase a camaro.

I have my eye on a 2LT/RS package camaro, manual, with a sunroof.

Initial price the dealer gave me was 32,800. (I was dealing with the fleet manager) And he said he could not go a penny lower.

I eventually ended up bringing it down to 31,700...and told them I would do it for 31,000 which the floor manager said he would try and do, at this point I left and told him I would need to think about it.

Do you think 31,000 is too much for a 2LT/RS package, manual with sunroof? I tried pushing for 30,000 but he said no way thats possible, and that I would need to move down to another model.

Thanks in advance! Great site by the way!

He's blowing smoke up your a$$. Gotta come armed with a set price before you start to negotiate with most of these aholes. Go online and build your car so that you can at least go in with an MSRP. There is no reason why you can't get the car for that amount.

Oh and welcome to the site!

It's BS. We skipped all of those "protection plans" except for the alarm. (Which has already paid off )

Don't let him tell you that you can't get the car without those "plans", because you can.

If he's still trying to push stuff on you under the pretense that you HAVE to pay for it, I'd go elsewhere. Sounds dishonest.

Thanks, really appreciate the quick responses.

I'm also thinking about moving down to the 1LT/RS model...a lot cheaper. I'm gonna go check out some other dealers around me.

I would if I were you (check out other options) but not before you get online and find out how much you should be paying with the options that you want

Also, they keep telling me that they cannot install bluetooth to the 1LT's...

Is this true?

A 1LT (or 1SS) with the Convenience and Connectivity package includes Bluetooth, USB, Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel, Steering Wheel Radio Controls, and Leather Wrapped Shifter.

But, you do have to order the vehicle with that package, as far as I know. An existing 1LT on the lot couldn't be retrofitted.

Don't buy the LT, go with the SS. Spend more, but think resale

1. Dont sell it! .
2. Yes u can get blue tooth on 1LT.
3. You'll spend less on the LT and save more with less fuel consumption as the SS.
4. Where in Texas u from? The dealer is just pushing for a sale.

Yeah I didn't plan on selling it. And I don't need a V8.

The connectivity package is the only thing that I really wanted, but still I can live without it, car charger and auxiliary works fine in the console. The HUD, Leather, Sunroof, Aux Gauges are cool but not a necessity.

And I'm from Houston. Yeah why lie to my face and tell me you can't go down a single penny from 32,800...and then we are talking at 31,000...these guys so lie much you can't even believe them if they are actually telling the truth.

Which is why I walked after he said 'no way I can go below 31,000' and wanted me to sign that I would do a deal today if he could get 31,000.

Zag pricing for your area for a 2011 2LT/RS Sunroof is $29,400. I would walk away from any deal above $29k. Leftover 2010 2LT/RS Sunroof are $24,800 and I'd walk away from anything above $24,500k. And I would not purchase a single dealer "protection package". They're all ripoffs.

I am getting a very similar setup for $30,100.
2011 2LT/RS Coupe:
manual
sunroof
20" polished wheels
compact wheel/tire

MSRP is $31,195. Check edmunds for the true market value and shop around. Also, check out dealer fees.

Thanks! And yeah the 'protection package' is apparently automatically included because they already did it. Which I don't believe.

I had a gut feeling I was being suckered.

Again, thank you everyone for all the responses, they have been very helpful!

Also, since you're in Texas. Why not check with Eric at Classic in Grapevine. I have heard good things about him on this board.

YOU CAN DO BETTER. Long story short, the first dealer I went to see had 1SS models listed for $40K. I said No frickin' way and, after some verbal battering, I convinced the guy to get online and look at what his competition across town was advertising for them. He STILL wouldn't believe until I left - bought my 1SS for $33K across town - and drove back by his dealership and gave him the bird through the window of his office.

Yes, it is too much money, and no, you should not do business with this dealer. Period. You can get a manual 2LT/RS with sunroof for $30,575.00 MSRP. Never pay above MSRP, especially towards the end of the model year. I just placed my order, about a week ago, for a 2SS/RS Automatic with polished wheels. My price? $35,250.00. Stop talking to these guys, they are trying to rob you, and go see what Becky can do for you, she is an angel to deal with, and you can trust what she tells you.

My price topic:

Good luck, bud.
