I will try and get once this evening for you. i can pretty much tell you that i do not think the suction cups alone would hold, not at least the way we have it mounted up hi above the radio (only covering the display). there is room for 3 suction cups, u could always lower it.

man i was like so scared to leave it hanging with just the magnets, its ok if its all smooth driving and turning, but if you have to make an aggressive move for some reason or hit a bump i would be so scared to drop at minimum a $500 device (with alot of glass)
i am really going to try and make a cradle this weekend.

thanks

Can you get some pics of how you are attaching to the center speaker for the original iPad? I understand the suction cups, but what are you using on top?

Hello, I have the iPad 2. With it I am using the magnetic smartcover that apple sells. It's what 2unique4u originally posted. The magnetic cover attaches to the center speaker. I will post clearer pics n video later today.

No, it won't. It also doesn't work on the LS.

No, but you can look into picking up a Proclip mount and using that to mount the iPad, instead of relying on some magnets. While its about a $100 bucks for the Proclip mount, I'd much rather spend the money instead of relying on magnets and some suction cups not to trash a ~$700 device.

Keep in mind, in your situation with the 1SS, just like me, you'll want to look at adding the bluetooth/USB module in the car to integrate it into the radio.

This looks like a good alternative. Ram-mounts also make mounts for the iPad as well. Do you have any more pics from different angles to show how it attaches?

Yes, in this thread: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113617 I posted a number of pictures for another user to see the mounts and placement.

I figured out a way to keep the iPad from sliding when you make turns. There is a product called "Invisashield" which is a shield that protects your front and back of your iPad. It does two things. One it keeps the iPad from scratching your OEM radio screen and it holds the iPad in place. That way you will not have to pay for a nasty ugly plastic alternative to hold the iPad in place.

I am happy to see so many people take my idea and build on it. I love to see what other individuals can do.
