Re: Underglow
Some of you may remember something about me posting questions about getting neon underglow for my 2002 Z28 Camaro. Well, almost 3 or 4 months later I now finally have them done, and for all those that would like to see the finished product I have pictures. = D. I personally think it looks VERY nice, it completely blew me away, it was everything I wanted and then some. Let me know if you guys want me to post the story of exactly why it took so long to get it done, it was very frustrating and kind of funny, because I actually bought the lights back in November and I'm just now getting them on. Well at any rate, here are the pics, enjoy = D.
Edit: Well, for some strange, God awful, reason the pics aren't loading, but nevertheless they're on my MySpace, so check them out here- http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...ageID=33012058 http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...ageID=33012070 http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...ageID=33012076 http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...ageID=33012062 http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...ageID=33012073 Last edited by MustangKillr; 02-15-2009 at 12:52 AM. |

Haha, thanks dude
! Yeah, just about any color will compliment black, but I thought green really set it out from the pack and I now have the only Camaro in my town with underglow and likely the only car with underglow, so I've been turning heads everywhere I drive lol . I really do love it, I'm blown away at the end results.

Congrats on the underglow. I'm gonna warn you now some of the members will give you a hassle about this, just don't listen to them. They are close minded. It's your car.

Oh yeah I know, because I posted a topic before I even got them, and it was almost completely one sided against the lights. Everyone sees them as a ricey thing to do, which I guess it is, because you typically don't see muscle cars with neon, but I think it's just cool personalization. It makes the car more unique, it makes it stand out above all the others. Why would I want something that everyone else has lol? Yeah I know everyone was very closed minded towards it, but I was hoping by posting the end results that maybe it would change a few opinions. But, if it doesn't, oh well, it's my car, and I like it

Haha thanks dude, I appreciate it. Well, here's what happened:
I bought them at the end of November and my friend said that he would help me install them, he's my age and he's by no means a mechanic, but he said he knew what he was doing so I trusted him. He wired up the switch for me, and told me he couldn't drill through the frame so he couldn't put the tubes on. So, I was like ok, whatever, so I waited for a month or two, and then some car enthusiast guy who knew my mom told me that he would help me with it. So I waited and waited and never heard anything back from him, so I then (recently) decided I would pay mechanics to do it, so I would get it done correctly. It cost me $60 to do it, and when it was done they told me that all that was left to do was plug the wires into the control box and it would be finished. So, I drove to my friend's uncle's garage to see if he knew how to help me with it, and he look inside and told me that literally EVERYTHING, except for the light placement was screwed to hell. There were wire next to the steering column, the fan housing, and the air dam, so he said that if I let him borrow the car he would have it fixed and working the next day. He started at 8:30 in the morning and got done around 9 that night, and he told me that the switch was blown and they actually bent the defrosting vent :( (which was where the switch was originally) so he moved the switch right below my trunk release, and he said the control box was fried so he threw it away and wired all the tubes together. He said it was a ridiculous, nightmarish, job because the people that did it before him, who were supposedly "trained professionals" did a terrible job :(. But, it's done now, so I guess that's all that matters |

it looks good, regardless of how much pain you went through to get it done.

i have red underglow on mine and i had the same problem chasing wires and im a licensed electrition but whoever wired them up messed them all up and had rockford fosgate speaker wire with no markings so i couldn't tell hot from ground but after 12 hours some tabe and fuses later i got them all hooked up but i just ran the swith to my cig lighter and put the switch in front of my shifter so that i had the amp killswitch exterior lights and interior lights all next to each other

Congrats on the mod! My 2005 AV is lit up enough to be seen from space.
For the best pictures, wait until about 10-15 minutes after sunset. There will still be enough ambient light that you can see the car, and you will be able to see the glow as well. For the first few times take pictures frequently for about 15-20 minutes. You'll get a feel for what amount of ambient light looks best with your setup. What kit did you go with? |

I like them.
Now you need to sync those lights with the bass in your stereo system.

Yeah, you're right, I probably should take a few pictures just before sunset. That's how a lot of my Camaro pics are actually lol. I went with the OptX StreetGlow green neon lights and I wired it to the switch which I housed in a hole I drilled right under the trunk release (need to take pics). Yeah, I want to get a sound sync device, but I'm afraid that could run me into some trouble with the law around here :(. Because, not only am I turning the heads of everyone around here, but I'm also turning the heads of the entire town's law enforcement lol. Just the other night I passed a cop that was stopped at a light, and he looked over at me and just stared at my neon, and I was kind of nervous because I didn't know what he was going to do next lol.
