Stripe Installation

What, if any, is the difference between the dealer installing vs Factory, for stripes? Do they both get clear coated? Applied the same way? Easy for both to do?

The stripes don't get clear coated as far as I know. Unless this is something new they are doing on this car. Installation is the same either way.

I went thru the first 5 pages and didn't see it, so i figured i'd ask.

I'm a little surprised that the stripe is applied over top the paint with no kind of sealant/protection.

Why are you surprised? Vinyl stripes/graphics have been used for years on cars over paint/clear. They hold up very well and look good. They are also cheaper from a production standpoint and frankly allow for more options (which is good for all of us).

I figured there would be a sealer to prevent the stripe's edges from getting damaged while washing/drying,etc.

Usually a sealer is used on the edges of vinyl graphics to keep it from peeling. Im not sure GM does it but I know aftermarket does.
