engine covers/stripes

I ordered black 2ss rs with engine cover. I was originally going ro change the color when they offered blue, but both colors are the same as cars I already have. Aqua blue 89 Iroc-z imperial blue 02 Trans Am Vert. Should I cancel the engine cover because it looks like that will be the color anyway. I was also wondering about the stripes, are they factory or dealer installed? I was under the impression they were dealer installed. Am I right? If thats the case I would order white engine cover with the white stripes. Any help? #1 on list of 15 allocations.

Originally some colors of the stripes were factory installed and the rest were dealer installed. Recently it has been said that all stripes will be factory installed, but not sure if its official yet.

I was skeptical about the dealer insatalled stripes. I seen a 09 Challenger at a car show and it looked like s@#t.

That would be great. I thought that the black ones were initially installed by the factory, then seen where only the white and gray ones were.

It looks like any stripe package you choose will be factory installed, but no RPO (factory install) codes are yet available, so this info. is tentative.

The optional engine covers are only available in RJT(GAQ), black(GBA), Victory Red(GCN), Rally Yellow(GCO) and IOM(GCR). The LPO engine cover (VYX) for a black car will basically be the stock cover with the black and silver reversed, hardly worth the money. But that color can be changed prior to delivery. A distributor will contact your dealer before the vehicle is delivered and confirm the order. At that time your dealer should tell the distributor to deliver the color you want as opposed to the black body color matched cover. That's what I plan to do.

Although it is true that the engine cover for a black car will be the stock cover with the black and silver reversed it does seam as though ordering this option would get you a shiney black on the cover as opposed to a satin black. I am still considering adding the option because of this.

Right, I forgot to mention that. It hopefully, considering the price tag, will be a nicer, dressier looking cover. Hey, LT, since I'm still up in the air about the cover, why don't you go ahead and get it and then let me know what you think?

I think I just decided last night to do just that. I am going to get the black body colored engine covers for by black with silver rally stripes 2SS/RS. I only hope that I get mine before yours so that I can actually let you know what I think about the covers.

I think it would look good to have the body colored engine covers match the color of your stripes. What color is your car?

No white cover is offered. See my #5 post above for the five available colors.

If they expand the factory installed stripes to more colors, we don't yet know if they will also be expanded to more trim lines beyond the original 2LT and 2SS. Should be more news coming at the early March IDL - no exact date given for it yet. I just saw they've updated the Camaro Training Website as of yesterday, can't get into it though.

Yeah right. My first oil change will be history before you get yours, but big of you to offer. Check my sig....my stripes are CGM....on black car....no CGM cover. Besides, with all the black there's going to be in the engine compartment, I want color. Probably going to get the VR. It'll match the RS/SS red badges if nothing else. The last IDL called out the Brembos as black, but from what I've seen they're dark charcoal, a pretty good match to the CGM stripes - nice! What priority are you at your dealer? I'm mine's first order, but he got zero cars this concensus. Hope to have it by late May.
