ZZ 572/720R

I asked this in my LS thread but it got over looked i guess, so im starting this thread to hopefully get some answers.

Does anybody know if the ZZ 572/720R will fit in the Camaro? and if so how much it will cost to convert everything to get it functional?

Anything could fit, but you'd be better off staying in the LS/LSX series engines. A big block in a car made for small blocks could create a list of other issues.(drivetrain)

So if i strengthened/replace the drive train to support the engine is that all i would have to do? or would i have to go through all the suspension and other stuff

You will spend thousands and when your done the added weight will cause it to handle like a mini van. Take the above advice and stick with the LS motors.

The GM Performance Parts 572/720 is a high compression race engine with a solid roller cam. If you intend to only race your Camaro then a decent chassis shop should be able to modify your Camaroto accept the 572.

Look to spend in the 30 to 50 thousand range over the cost of your Camaro.

It still would not be able to be driven on the street.

If you really want a race car better off to start with a body in white from GM Performance Parts. You may be able to get it built for close to the same amount of money that you spent on te new car and the 50 grand.

If you want 720 Horsepower it is available in many ways with the LS engine.

Look at the Lingenfelter packages as an example.

Good luck!

Robin

for the right amount of money, any motor can be made to fit into the camaro.

it would cost a pretty penny to convert the cars chassis, suspension, etc to just get the motor in there. then you'll have the wiring and all that. not impossible, but a big hassle when you can go and get an LSX block that can be bored out to 511ci and throw in there. or do a 454 LSX instead. then you could keep the L76/L92 heads that come on the car stock and some other parts will also swap over and the motor will fit right in place of the LS3/L99

Should fit fine but you can get the same performance cheaper, with less modifications to the car, in an lsx.
