This is the first I have heard of "Introductory Pricing". Is it MSRP or less?

not sure?

I was wondering the same thing?
Is the MSRP going to change after the pre-orders are completed?
nice picture on your signature, where did you find that?

Intro pricing is the pricing posted on this website. The MSRP numbers we have been using all along. Thats why we have been saying you need to preorder to lock in (price protection)that price.Kinda makes it sound like the prices may go up after launch.

So to clear this up as long as you already placed a pre-order your price is locked in?

Yes. Your dealer could always jack it up but the MSRP on your car will be what it is set at now.

This definitely makes it sound like they're planning on raising the prices later on which I think would be a mistake.

This worries me, since I might wait for the HUD and parking assist to come out... I hope the price doesn't skyrocket :(

I'm not worried about the price going up. GM can raise MSRP all they want after this "introductory pricing" but if people aren't buying the cars on the lots, dealers are going to have to sell below MSRP if they want to stay in business.

Selling the first cars to enthusiasts @ MSRP is the easy sell. Selling the rest of the production run to regular everyday people @ MSRP is going to be a heck of a lot more difficult, especially if MSRP goes up. Just as an example, I saw an ad this weekend from a local Dodge dealership...ALL 2009 Dodge Challengers - $4k off MSRP - including SRT8 and RT models. Compare that to last year and the easy selling to the Mopar nuts of the SRT8 models at prices over MSRP. Those of us that don't buy into the pre-ordering will likely end up paying less for our cars due to incentives from GM and the dealers.

Introductory pricing? What tha????

I mean this car was touted as being direct competition with the Mustang in price. It's already more expensive, and now there is more and more talk of current pricing being only introductory and for pre sold orders??

There is just way too much unknown on all this, especially with this car supposedly hitting the lots in a month or two.

Now if the price goes up $500 or so but they add HUD or some other cool toys, fine. But if they keep everything the same and simply raise the price it'll back fire big time. The economy is REALLY screwed up right now. I hope these things even sell enough to continue being made at this point and GM can stay in business to keep making them.

A raise in MSRP would be accompanied by a raise in invoice. Therefore, the lowest price they'd be able to go is still higher than it would be if GM doesn't raise the price.

I've been saying it in a few threads now:

PLACE YOUR ORDER BY 3/14 TO LOCK IN THESE PRICES! They will honor that price when ever the car is delivered!

Yeah but if the cars are just sitting there, GM is going to have to help the dealers out, regardless of invoice/MSRP. Even the new 2009 G8 GXP has a $3000 Cash Allowance incentive on it right now.

So here is the million dollar question: For those luck few that have ordered @ GM discounts what will be our price when the car arrives? Will that be at the pre-order rate or the new rate when it shows up?
For example, I have an order in @ supplier pricing however, all dealers I have talked to stated that it's just an estimate right now because they wont know until later. They have estimated 4% over invoice. So, if that price goes up later [i.e. post 3/15] will my supplier pricing be loced in @ invoice as it stands today or will it be subject to that later post 3/15 pricing?

No offense to GM, but they're going to have a difficult time selling these things as it is; surely they're smart enough to know to keep the price down, especially with the Challenger and the upcoming ecoboost Mustang on the Camaro's heels.

Exactly. At this point MSRP is not considered a "good deal" by most at its current dollar figure. What's it gonna be like when these cars have been out for a couple of months, are collecting on dealer lots, etc.

Like everything else the initial hype will wear off and there you are with a car you over paid for. I mean if this were a Cobalt or an Impala would anyone pay MSRP?

Keep your wits about you folks. Don't get caught up in the hype. This is a buyer's market. Set the price you'll pay and stick to it and that should NOT be MSRP.

I think they need to add this disclamer also
