Just another Sunday....Yeah right!!!!

Well, I learned a valuable lesson today.

So here's how my Sunday went...

Started out as a normal Sunday does...got up got ready for church to get our worship on. The wife wanted to stop by Lowes to look at rose bushes after church so I told her we would need to take her vehicle which is a jeep liberty. I always cringe when I hear those words because I know it will lead to me getting up close and personal with a shovel.Things are going as planned, went to church then hit up Lowes. Of course the place is packed....just love this time of year...NOT! Anyway, so we head home. We pull into the driveway, I back in as normal and hit the button to open the garage. I get out and turn around and head to the garage...and what do I see???

Then I look up at the wall and realize the shelf has fallen off the wall...

Then I turn around and look to make sure my car is ok and see this....

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Needless to say...I pulled the car out and got the hose and began to wash this off. Thank god it came off!!!! So, I will never store paint cans on a shelf again. I should have known this but, that stupid shelf has been up there for 6 yrs. Thanks go to the wife for getting these pictures because I was shaking!!! I never could have taken these.

I bet you were white as a ghost! I had wood stored above in the garage and tried to get a piece without pulling my camaro out. Bad move, there was another piece on top of the one I was trying to get and it fell and just mist the hood of my car! I was actually shaking. After I stopped shaking, I pulled the car out and took everything down from above the car.

WOW! That could've been MUCH worse... dodged a bullet there for sure, not only by missing the cars, but you and your wife! Had one of you been standing in the garage when it came down that would've been ugly.

Those braced shelves are really only good for closets, and even then they're fairly worthless. They're not rated for very much weight at all, a flimsy plastic clip and a little brace bar.

All my open shelving is the track and rail style thats rated for 400lbs per shelf... its relatively inexpensive at Lowes (closetmaid) and easy to install... PLUS its adjustable so if you run 48" uprights you have a variety of heights you can set the shelves to depending on the need.

Anyways, glad it cleaned up easy and no one was hurt.

Couple of fortunate things happened here; 1) it washed right off the Camaro, and 2) you guys took the jeep so no damage to it.

Gotta at least try to find a bright side when type of crap happens, right?
