Totaled my car.... but funny!

So I totaled my VW Beater this morning... by cracking the windshield!

I noticed a small crack that grew as I drove, i rememebred last night a pebble had struck it pretty hard. So I checked Safelite when I got to work, they want $300 for a new windshield installed.... on a $300 car!!

They may be able to do a repair, I'm going there Saturday. but its just too funny!

Only if in you pay extra for windshield insurance. Florida is the only state that I know of that makes part of standard car insurance.

Yeah its available as an option on comprehensive coverage here in NY.

However I believe I could leave the doors open and key in the ignition and noone would steal this car, so hence no comprehensive coverage.

Not true. KY covers it for free if you have full coverage. In TN you only have to pay 20% of the replacement costs as well.

New York in February? You should be good to go without a windshield.

my mom had a brand new 84 Z28 that she left the keys in, tops off, & doors unlocked in the middle of san antonio waiting for somebody to steal it (it was a lemon) & it wasn't til she went to LA, parked it at a church, locked it up & took the keys that somebody jacked it!

I dont know how thatll be handled. When I lived on the KY side of the border the cost was covered completely even though I had a $500 deductible. I was just told that now that we are in TN we have to pay 20% of the costs.

In RI, the same deductible applies to the windshield as the rest of the vehicle.

As a result I continue to drive my truck with a huge crack, halfway up, 60% across.

In VA you have to have comprenhesive coverage to coverage glass breakage. The deductible varies from policy to policy. On a lot of polices there is no comp deductible. Comp aslo covers fire, theft and anything other than collision.

So safelite wont touch it (cant fix the crack anyway) and I scoured EVERY boneyard on the island to come up with zlich, no windshield or headlight switch.....

What does this mean?

Keep driving as is, pray the camaro comes soon... when it does.......

Install a rollcage and enter the VW into this:

Not kidding!
