SS Bumper Swap?

Ok guys, i didnt know where to start this thread but i fugured it should fit in here. I ordered a IOM 2LT/RS, and after seeing the IOM SS, i really want that bumper. Now, i know alot of people love thier SS bumpers, but if anyone here still would love to have the v6 bumper because i know there were alot of people who did, and you have an IOM SS bumper, let me know, and maybe we can run a swap.
P.S im still not 100% of if i want the SS bumper but im close to it!

Maybe some fool will wreck his SS and if the bumper is salvageable, it's yours

but don't count on that, you will have to wait until some aftermarket vendors decides to sell them

hmmm......

Lets say I drove a SS and a jerk in a F-150 hit me head on, and the whole front end of my Camaro was destroyed but not wrecked, so I decide to take it to a bodyshop to fixed the front end, where ever the body specialist order the front end parts from, that's where you can get it ... most likely he got it from GM

there's a few people around here who've been looking to do a front-end swap. i'd say just wait til the cars start hitting the streets & there'll be a few more people talking about it.

eh, some people like the mail slot. or dont like the front fascia of the v-6.

like how some people like the LS1 front end over the LT1 front end and do the swap.

Just wait a couple months after you buy get the car and go to your local body shop and have them order you one. That way you have the one you want and have the factory bumper in case you have to sell it.

I certainly would recommend ordering an SS bumper and hanging on to the stock bumper as well. You never know what lies ahead for the value of your car, and stock components contribute more to value. For all the things I mod in my car, I've kept the original factory parts which have been replaced.

If you find you do want to swap, or buy someone's, then try the regional forums on this thread. That might save you on shipping costs.

to change a LS/LT to a SS front you are not only going to need the bumper cover, but possibly the lower grill and the mail slot insert, and lower air dam , Maybe even have to have different support brackets, and then have it painted to match... I think that is too much trouble myself. I would just find someone with an SS that want to make it a Sleeper and swap noses, and if you can find someone with the same color car you both save tons of money...

I had not seen on in person that is why I said Possibly, because I was not certian that the lower grill may have been a separate piece..
If it is all one piece that is one less piece to replace, but a second color needed painting..if you want a black grill and have a non black car.. still extra expense..

wrong, def not one piece... i've looked at the cad data for it.

there's the bumper itself, the lower grill, and the sockets for the fog lights... the sockets you might get away with having the same but it's def not one piece.

i've always hated 'functional-looking' parts on cars, especially the stick-on hood scoops the mail slot is much better than those, but i'd prefer to not have it.

the fog lights are also spaced wider on the SS

i ain't seen it in person either, but the closeups of the bumpers & quarter panels look like one piece.

well i know that the actual grilles & lights ain't physically part of the bumper. i'm talking about the body-colored piece that starts at the front of the hood, wraps around the front and extends down to the air dam. let me come up with an illustration...

the first highlights what i'm talking about.
the second is the original so you can see there's no seam

I know the bumper cover is one piece,it surrounds both upper and lower grills, I was talking about the lower grill being a separate piece...along with the air dam below the bumper...

i'd say those are separate, but you can't use one set with the other bumper, so why would you worry about having to change them out? just leave them attached to the large bumper piece when you swap

I am sure you do not purchase them as one piece, so if you have to buy the parts you will have to buy more than just the bumper cover. bumper cover, lower grill and air dam...I think the top grill is the same
read my first post again on this
