subframe bushing question?
hi,
I bought subframe bushings and need some advice. I would like this shop buy my home to install but the mech. states he needs to remove the cradle from body to install and disconnect the driveshaft. Does anyone have a link on how to install and i thought you can install these bushings by cutting out the old and just lowering the cradle instead of full removal. Also i remember reading a while back that you shouldn't reuse the rear driveshaft bolts. I think Vinny from the bronx had this problem??? i tried the search and couldn't really find what i needed. Any advice is much appreciated thxs joey

If you feel like taking a ride in to bklyn we can help you out. You do not have to do all that. Yes you have to lower the subframe. Most shops don't know what there doing if they haven't done them before. I personally have the pedders set in my car and we have don't a few. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you

Are you talking subframe inserts or full bushings???
The inserts are easy to install without removing the subframe or disconnecting the driveshaft. I installed full bushings by just lowering the subframe, and I did have the drive shaft disconnected, which allows the subframe to come down a bit lower. I also was doing it on jackstands. That said, if I had it to do again, I would remove the subframe completely. It would just be a lot easier, at least on jackstands.

brett you are correct the products of both bmr and pedders are the same type of bushings, i think bmr is a great product and have used bmr in other older projects. deffinitly not knocking the products in any way. but having the tips and tricks passed on to me from the pedders crew on the other side of the world and from pete himself has made the install very simple with out removing the subframe or exhaust with the car on the lift. about 2.5 hours drive on to drive off on the 2 post lift. but which ever product is used as long as the end user is happy we all win |

Yes, please share your tips and tricks!!!! Obviously, I can't drive to NY, and I don't trust anyone around here to do it either!!! So, my only option is to do it myself. I do have access to a lift, but I'm still "scared" to try this on my own!!! Anything to make it easier would be greatly appreciated!!! |

i will say this the little tricks are on the forum already, posted by justice pete, it involves cutting the bushing center out then scoring the composite body in a few spots, the down fall to this is the spray of hot rubber, but protective gear is a must ill see if i can find a link to it
