Ah.. the CC is a nice car. I hope it is worth it when a Camaro drives by!

I respect your opinion, though, as the CC is a much more practical car than the Camaro.

I did crazy things when I was a teen that I regret so I'm not one to say anything about leasing a VW.

Getting a POS at 17.... I would have dreamnt of having a car at all but times are different now. Leasing helps your credit about the same as buying? Never leased... so I honestly don't know.

I agree with the people against leasing.
By a used $1500 car and save money for your Camaro when you can swing it.

If you are paying for the lease and still filling as a dependent under your parents taxes you don't even get any of that money back in tax returns.
Leasing a car for 2-3 years at $279.00 is between $7,696 or 11,044 with your $1000 deposit completely wasted.

I know you don't think you can bare to drive a piece of junk but seriously you haven't been driving long enough or working long enough to buy anything else and honestly you can get some pretty decent cars for 1500 bucks these days. You don't need a brand spanking new car to park in your higshchool parking lot for other dumbasses to open their doors into, beg you to drive, and generally make you a nervous wreck everytime you leave it. I am 25 and still driving the same old beat up pick up that I drove in highschool to work everyday. Your toys are for nice days and times when you can enjoy them.

I have no problem with a 17 year old driving a nice car, but seriously take my advice here and learn from others mistakes...don't lease a freaking car. Either buy what you can afford now and save the money or just go ahead and buy the car you want. Even if you wait 1 year you will have 4338 with your deposit...that means you will have that much to put down on a used or new car a year from now that you will own.

Im from the UK and swore i would never buy an American car because they look like boxes, but now i have to say American cars are giving European and Far Eastern cars a run for their money now. I am in love with the Camaro and cant wait to sit in it at the dealer, test drive it and trade in the bug for one.

I would have to agree with the other posters about the whole lease situation. You are basically going to be paying a monthly payment for 3 years for a car you are never going to own. You are restricted on how many miles you can drive and it is just a waste of time. Your 17, have fun with a cheaper car for $1500. Even in December that is less than you would have spent on lease payments and the down payment, then look at stepping up from there. Your still young. Im from the UK and have lived here for some 7 years now. I didnt buy my own nice car until i was 22 and i could afford the payments. I bought a BMW 3 series pre owned from the dealer 1 year old. I had financing over 3 years, great payment rates.

The Camaro looks like a great car and i think you would be mad to entertain a lease which as a young person, and we have all been there, you will regret, end up getting the car you really want and loosing alot more at the end of the day.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

At your age, don't throw away your money on leasing a car and for heavens sake don't get a VW for any reason.

think about it this way, get a ls for about 23000 and pay 3000 down for 5 year payments are about 300 a month plus or minus, thats close to the lease, but you will have a v6 camaro. now if your thinking about a ss then thats too much money, but goodluck in your choice

Wow the feedback ive been getting is surprising i thought id be bashed more As far as VW quality i agree its not the best but ive heard nothing but good things as far as the CC in gerneral from alot of different people. As far as leasing goes, its just a family preference that i dont have much control over and since im initially not paying the payments i dont have much input on it. I can get other cars but my lease budget will be about 240 and my dads agreed to go a little over with this car because he likes it as well. Also my dads not big on used cars so thats why and with this deal were only gonna be paying about 8 grand plus the 1000 down. So IMHO i think its worth it

If your not paying it then its not really your decision to make, but if i were you i would sit down and have a whole conversation with your folks about leasing. It seems ridiculous to throw the best part of $10,000 away for nothing. If your family are only interested in Brand new cars, you are going to always loose because of the depreciation so that shouldnt be an issue really.

Good luck

The VW CC is the only good looking Volkswagon.

It's also the only VW that doesn't look like a 'bitch' car...

VW = Effeminate (except for the CC)

I did a lease on a car when I was 16....it was a 2001 explorer sport. I would definately not recommend a lease because you really are just throwing your money away unless you buy at the end of the lease. I spent roughly $12,000 over 2 years on the lease and after that you have nothing. I have been there and done that....I am not telling you what car to get.....just rethink the lease part buddy

Sorry to hear about your VWs. Mine has been bullet proof for 236,650 miles. I drive it like a race car. THe only thing I have had issue with are the lights. They seem to go out quite often.

Don't apologize for getting the CC...that thing is B E A U T I F U L! You will love the car. I have to warn you though, you just raised the bar for the next car you own. I have a Passat. I love it. I want a camaro so bad I can taste it, I really miss the V8 of the 99 Z28. I am having trouble justifying giving up the quality of the VW. I will, but I am having trouble. Every other car you see now will have to live up to the fit and finish of the VW.

I have leased my last 7 vehicles and it was the BEST possible way to drive those cars. to everyone saying buy a beater etc or dont lease they are misinformed or parhaps they put THEMSELVES in a poor lease Im not sure.

"I did a lease on a car when I was 16....it was a 2001 explorer sport. To this person I would ask on a 60 or 72 month contract whay do you have at the end of 2 years? An OBLIGATION to pay off the car is ALL you have you dont own the car the bank still does. On a 2 or 3 year lease you have OPTIONS you can sell the car, trade it in or heaven forbid you hated it give it back having only been obligated to a short term.

Automobiles all deperciate the only way to win is to spend as little of your money to drive them while this is taking place which points towards leasing. the only scenario where leasing doesnt make sense is if a driver puts 25000 miles or more per year on there vehicles then it just doesnt pencil out.

The ONLY way I would drive a VW is under a short term lease, have you ever had a car or truck you just hated after 1 year or 2 again if you are on a long term contract you have an OBLIGATION to pay it off but if you leased it you have a shorter obligation until you can switch into something you like better!

Im sure many of you have horror stories about friends or neighbors leasing nightmares but I am 7 for 7 with ZERO headaches, in fact when my 2007 tahoe lease comes up in July I am giving it backbecause the residual is higher than current market value, had I been in a long term loan I would be buried and NOT be able to get out of it! Leasing a NEW car is the only way to fly in my book!

I don't see the problem in leasing if you want a different car every couple years and always want to have a payment. I'm buying mine cause I want it to be the first car I actually keep long enough to own, lol.

that car is nice... my moms probably getting one next year

and why does everyone say leasing is so bad? My family gets new cars every couple of years, so if you like to have a new car, leasing is the best way to go

If I didnt want a camaro, or a big truck/suv, I would get a VW. My dad has an 89 jetta desiel with 250,000 miles, only minor problems, and my mom has an 04 passat tdi, and the only thing gone bad in that is one of the glow plugs. VW's are rock solid for engine's. Their electronics used to be iffy, but they have overcome this problem, the cc is a nice car, and it sounds like you got a pretty good deal. Congrats.

Good lord if you think what I said was ridicule you have some seriously paper thin skin. Happy had nothing to do with the logic I was conveying. You can be happy with a car and still be miserable with form of payment.

Your folks are footing the bill, that means all you can do is do what you asked. There are many reason people lease one of which is that it is a tax write off. I am not a fan of lease vehicles because of various reasons that I won't go into but that is mute in this regard.

Rob when you start having to take on payments for anything I would seriously think long and hard, personally speaking here, before getting into a lease. Also if at any time your father wants you to take on the payment in it's entirety I would implore him to let you purchase a cheap car so that you can live payment free while in college. I just got out of all this bro, I wouldn't steer ya wrong.

At any rate let us know how that CC is, I expect a full write up with pictures.

The CC is a beautiful car. The member that chimed in hre do have some valid points. I remember when I was 17 it didn't long for my new car to get dents and dings.
