Fender Emblems Delete?

I was wondering what people's thoughts on this were. I personally detest the block "CAMARO" letters they used on the fenders. With the car having similar lines to the '69 Camaro, what are people's thoughts on removing the block letters and replacing them with the 69 "CAMARO" script? I think it would look great but was wondering if anyone had done it? Has anyone removed the letters from the fenders? I know the old emblems would require drilling and the chrome could start pitting with the winter salt but they are replaceable and it would take years. Ideas? Thoughts?

Several people have done it, Ive put some 69 V-Flag Fender Emblems on what I did was cut off those two posts off the back then used 3M Emblem Tape to hold it in place.

All new emblems are held on with Emblem Tape/Auto Tape whatever you wanna call it. Heat gun and fishing line can remove them and use Goo Gone to get any other gunk off.

There are quite a few Camaros around with the old script badges. You can buy repop versions online that are finished exactly the same as the stock badges so they won't pit or wear any differently.
I'd also recommend cutting off the mounting peg on the back and using 3M tape to mount them vs. drilling holes in your fenders.

I plan on doing this as well. I think that '69 badge looks so good on these cars.

Several have done it. I want to, as well. I have the emblems. I'm just not sure of the "proper" placement.

Wouldn't adding an "R" badge be akin to throwing an SS badge on a non-SS Camaro? That is hardly what we are talking about here. A couple styling cues taken from a '69 can be done tastefully.

+1
tape removal not as easy as it sounds but this works. I originally put SS emblems under the Camaro and have since removed them in favor of the V flags.

Personally I like the block letters, this car is not a 69 camaro it is a 5th generation camaro. i would rather see them removed than to see 69 emblems on a 2010 or newer car. might as well install that tacky chrome bumper add on deal too.

Obviously from my avatar I'm a fan of those 69' Emblems. You can go too far though! Stay within reason and it will look cool

As I said, "A couple styling cues taken from a '69 can be done tastefully."

NO ONE in their right mind would consider a chrome bumper, fuzzy dice, and curb feelers tasteful styling cues. SOME, however, would consider the retro Camaro script or SS badges, heritage grill, or V flags tasteful styling cues.

To each, their own. But I believe some of you guys are comparing apples to oranges here.

There's a few pics here of the retro Camaro script.

Also, I've seen a few references to "'69 V flags" but I thought those were indigenous to '67.

The pictures look GREAT!! I am convinced, I am doing it. I didn't ask about the "Camaro by Chevrolet" on the nose but after seeing the pictures I love it...the question is, should I have a detailer do it? I would hate to ruin my paint removing the block letters, it's a black car :( But I am ordering the badges now Thanks for your opinions, it really helped!

i am working on making my own script emblems for the fenders...

this one was a little thin it was on 1/32" aluminum and it bent too easily... new ones i just cut are out of 1/16". jut got to get them in the powder coat box and then apply some sticky tape...

I took mine off, I think it looks a lot cleaner now. Used dental floss to remove emblems and Turtle wax polish adhesive remover to get rid of the tape.
