I didn't create a thread for my first Camaro SS, but will get this party started for the new convertible 2011.
The Camaro was purchased from Buckalew Chevrolet in Conroe, TX. Mr. Eddy Cotton is the man to chat with there, excellent buying experience we had with them. www.buckalewchevrolet.com Our convertible is a 2SS / RS, Victory Red, L99 Automatic. Black leather interior, black top. It came with the polished wheels and fancy floor mats. Neither of which will remain on the car, LOL. I'm building this one to be displayed in the Magna Charger booth for Hotrod Power Tour 2011, which happens the first week of June. This will be over 3,500 miles in one week, with a major car show at each city, each day. http://www.hotrod.com/2011/powertour/index.html We'll be doing quite a bit to this car in only a month! As of today, the car is still stock, with 400 miles on it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now, on to the good stuff: Modifications! I'll be building this red convertible with more of a hotrod theme, as my last cyber gray car had more of a modern theme going. The car heads to the paint shop today, for custom painted hood/trunk stripes. They will be gloss black, and similar to the Concept Convertible stripes. The grille area will be done in matte black, along with the tail light area too. We'll be painting over the side marker lights, shaving the dumb front license plate holes, and a couple other things too. Cory over at Kustom Werx in Conroe, TX will be doing the custom paint work. www.kustomwerxautobody.com I've selected these wheels from Modulare Forged, model M11. Brushed centers with gloss black inner/outer lip, register, and red lip pinstripe. 22x9.0 front and 22x11.0 rears. Going with the standard Pirelli PZero 265/315 tire combo. The wheels are machined, currently in paint finishing now. www.modularewheels.com ![]() Magna Charger will be providing a chrome TVS2300 supercharger system, identical to what I had installed on my '10 SS hardtop. I've had excellent results with their system, and still feel they make the best looking engine jewelry on the market. www.magnacharger.com ![]() Pfadt coil-overs will be installed on the Camaro, as I wanted to be able to adjust the ride height perfectly, and also adjust the shock rates for this long road trip. I've had excellent results from Pfadt products on previous cars, and enjoy working with them. http://www.pfadtracing.com/catalog/p...roducts_id/175 For brakes, I'm just installing a set of iRotor replacement rotors, along with some Hawk PC ceramic brake pads. Down with the roller skates! www.irotors.com - the guys over at www.GMPartsHouse.com supplied the brake pads. I'd like to have installed CTS-V calipers up front, but they are on backorder with GM now. Boo! Any brake companies interested? ![]() I'm installing a set of Billet Custom Products valve covers on the car, as I dig their retro vibe. Should match nicely with the Maggie, and the hotrod theme of the car. http://store.billetcustomproducts.com/cbivaco.html ![]() MBRP will be providing the exhaust catback system. I'm going with their dual 3" stainless system for the L99, as it has resonators in the X-pipe to reduce any drone potential. There will be another installation how-to and before/after videos of that system. The factory system is just too quiet on the convertible, it has even more mufflers/resonators/chambers than the hardtop OEM exhaust. I'll be sure to snap photos of the vert system next to my LS3 system for comparison. www.mbrp.com Gonna be a busy month. I'll update as I modify, stay tuned! Tony

Are you having the stripes painted under or on top of the clear?

Tony,
The painted stripes will look killer, I did mine in a House of Colors, Galaxy Gray, but it has metallic. Came out well.

I'll bet that does look good Jkel! I'm sticking with gloss black, it will match my '70 Chevelle and be reminiscent of my first car in high school. Red '69 Camaro with black stripes.

I love your cars, FYI. Can you loan me $7,000 for a Maggie with a 10 year payment plan at 0.01% interest please?

![]() ![]() everytime I watch Barrett Jackson Auctions and see the 1st Gens come across the block.I am really interested to watch this build, Initially when the Camaro was announced I wanted a 'Vert, triple black, but was kinda afraid that they wouldn't make it so I pre-ordered. I love my car, but have always like a vert.

I forgot about that. We'll have to line up the matching Chevelles and Camaros for some photos.

Yeah, it sucks the plates were on all of the Camaros on the lot. Corey is only charging $100 to fill/paint the holes though, since the bumper is coming off anyways for the stripes.

First photos from Kustom Werx. Body panels have been wet-sanded and taped off for the stripes. I went with uniform width nose/tail stripes, similar to what the 1st gen's had, but with the typical Chevelle type corners at the nose. Stripes are 14" wide with a 4-1/2" separation between them.
Corey also customized the side marker lights while they were out of the car. Yes, that is the paper dealer tag on the car. I'll probably have all the mods done to the car before the tags show up

More updates from Kustom Werx. Stripes are painted, clearcoat is sprayed. They are going to start buffing the clearcoat now. They think the car should be ready by Thursday! I'll be installing the supercharger this weekend, along with anything else I have time to accomplish.
Pfadt coil-overs showed up. Brake rotors/pads showed up. 22" Pirelli PZero Nero tires showed up. Woot!

Wheels are at the custom painter this week. Probably assembly next week, then I'll have them. By then, the car will probably be lowered and blown, ready for some good pics
