SO THE Z28 IS COMING BACK?
Maybe they should do a LS3 lightweight Z28 to compete with the Boss and an LS7 Iroc-Z just for fun. What do you guys think?

It might and that a big if. GM has not announced anything yet and it's all speculation to this point. I believe like some that there is a market for 40k performance car for the average joe and the only thing in that price factory direct and no mods is the Boss. The Boss is a limited production car unless Ford changes that at this point. So will GM add the Z28 or revamp an SS and add a track pac opp: iono:
The LS7 will soon be outdated as far as new tech coming down the pipe.

I don't want an LS, 1LT, 2LT, 1SS, 2SS, ZL-1, Z-28, IROC-Z, and a Yenko.
There are enough as is. Let Chevy do its thing. The economy is already bad enough lol! We can wish though.

There will be a Z/28. GM is on its way to be the #1 automaker in the world, plain and simple. They have heard our voices...

Um....i'm a GM fan and all but uh....they still have a long way to go to be the top automaker in the world. Heck "top automaker" could have an a lot of different definitions.

I think they should do the logical next step and change the body style to the 70 split bumper and then bring out the Z28

When?
Does anyone know when to expect the Z28?
I might buy a 2012 Camaro in July if they are not expected to come out with the Z28 until 2013. Otherwise if it were to come out a few months after the ZL1 then I would simply wait and buy it. A confused buyer...

However, given the time and resources that it takes to develop different models in the auto industry these days, I wouldn't expect a new Z28 to be produced any time in the 2012 calendar year. I've owned several Z28s over the years, and still own my 1969 Z28 (MSRP $4,168.75 -- weren't those the days of affordable muscle?) from Guardian Chevrolet in Brea. So this time around I'm going to buy the ZL1. |

I say screw the corvette and just put the damn 5 liter DI in the camaro. The corvette can always go bigger and use the 6.2L DI engine why do we need to wait for a DI small block to debut in the Corvette anyway? I thought that auto makers were out to make money? Wouldn't it make more sense to put the newest technology into a car that sells more units per year to to try to get back some of the revenue for R&D?

Maybe the Z28 will have a track pac and a turbocharged V6. Lighter, firmer and as much power as the SS!

No way, I know that there would be a lot less interest from a TT V6 version of a camaro if you call it a Z/28. Never has there been one and never should there be one.

I personally don't think the Z28 will come out until the Gen 6 Camaro is released for MY2015. As of now GM doesn't have any options for an alternate Z28 engine and the Camaro really can't get much lighter. When the Gen 6 is released GM will have the new 5.5L DI V8, the lighter Alpha platform, possibly as new 6.2L or equivilant, and a twin turbo V6. I'm not sure if GM plans to keep a larger CI angine like the 6.2L around along side the new 5.5L. If they have both I can see the Z28 with the 5.5L (off-shoot of the GT-2 race engine) and the SS with the larger displacement engine. Or we may see the 5.5L and turbo V-6 version as the two high performance options. Of course the ZL1 will have a supercharged 5.5L DI version.

i think the z28 should be a smaller v8 than the 6.2 with 350ish HP so its better than the v6 but cheaper than the SS. this will make it fit in line and so people can afford the damn thing. 40k for my 2ss/rs yeah that was a nice penny lol

I think a z28 model Camaro would be a very wise idea. Somewhere around 375hp and some direct competition for the Challenger R/T. It would be a great car,and it most likely would be a hot seller, for those who cant afford the SS,but refuse to own a V6.
