Contemplating a move to Colorado - need advice.

Hello - I currently live in Washington State, and my Camaro is my only car. I am considering applying for a job in Denver. If I got snow tires for the winter, would it be feasible for me to live in Colorado and drive my Camaro year-round? I have experience driving in snow, but not with this car - my former vehicles had 4-wheel-drive. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

I've been driving my Camaro everyday since I got it. I have studded 18 snow tires but honestly depending on where you plan on moving to The snow really isn't an issue. The mountains get pounded but down below 7500 ft not bad at all. I start out in 2nd shift right to 4th and have had no issues.

In the extreme, there would be only 4 to 5 days out of the entire year that a Camaro with snow tires would not be able to get around... And on those days ur boss isn't either.. So day off More reason to move here ha !

Im currently finishing up school in north western PA (Erie area). I have 20" pirrelli scorpion snow and ice. ZERO problems. We've had a foot and a half of snow overnight, ice, etc and she's handled just fine. Just turn off traction control and keep a light foot on the pedal. No problems.

*note: the reason I turn off traction control is because it actually makes driving in the snow harder. When you get stuck, traction control kicks in and adjusts the amount of power each rear wheel gets (giving you an unequal amount if power to the wheels, say 70% for the rear left and 30% for rear right). What this does is, once your wheels catch, you go shooting off at some random angle. Its much easier to drive with traction control off and using 1st or 2nd gear to work your way out of it.

For Colorado, yeah we really only have 4-5 days of really bad snjow. Other days are snowy but it melts by mid day. Get the all season Continentals. Thats what I plan to get. I drive mine all year around but I had a truck for the bad days.

I have studless snow's and have had no issues in the winter, both in Wyoming and Colorado. Get some good tires and you'll be fine. All seasons might be a bit sketchy during those bad days but they don't happen that often.

Great, thank you all so much for your feedback and tips! Sounds like it shouldn't be too much to worry about.

I bought blizzak's and new rims from tire rack. For a little extra they will put in tpms sensors. It was cheaper and better to get the wheel and tire combo in 18" instead of trying to get good 20" snow tires. The overall Hight is almost the same. The car was just as good in light snow to about 8" as my Acura MDX (with all seasons).

Agree on the size,my snows are 18".and will be used for my dr too. Most people don't even see the difference.
