I can vouch for Steve. I bought an SCT x4 from him and got a tune for my kooks/intake/Bo White TB. No issues with throwing codes, etc. (was throwing codes pre-tune). Replied to my emails same day, usually within an hour or two. Also helps that the price on the x4 was better than I've seen on most sites.

Honest answer:

1) Like every other sponsor here, he is advertising his business.

2) It gets a lot of play here because he puts out a fantastic product and has hundreds of satisfied customers that are happy to support him and recommend his tune for those looking for a tune.

3) It is a fantastic alternative if you are not physically close to a dyno shop.

4) Much smarter money option for those that cannot afford to do all the mods that they want to at once. Example, my shop doesn't have a dyno but is affiliated with a shop that does and also one of the highest regarded dyno tuners on this board. The first tune is $500, a second is discounted to $400 so it's $900 for two tunes. After my first round of mods, I got a Dyno Steve tune and SCT4 Tuner for $350, mostly to get rid of the AFM and the CELs from my rear O2s because of the HFCs. When I get headers from him, that tune will be free as well. Two tunes for $350, as opposed to $900. The savings DAMN near pays for the headers!!!

5) His remote tune is close enough to a dyno tune, maybe a couple or few HP left here and there, I don't feel a dyno tune is justified on these cars except for the following conditions: you have everything installed at once, at the point you do heads/cam, any FI install, dedicated track car, or you have the money to throw out the window for multiple dyno tunes.

6) If something is not to your liking... Steve will have you data log the car and he will tweak the tune for you.

For a lot of us, it is the most economically feasible option. Not gonna lie... it also works out great if you are too impatient to wait until you have all your parts to install at once

Headers don't require a full retune, so your math and numbers are off. No way Nic charges $400 to adjust a tune for headers.

Probably just a miscommunication or not the correct question. A retune, yes, a mild tweak that takes <5 minutes isn't $400. If you asked how much is it to get tuned again later, that is the correct answer, but adding headers doesn't require that.

I do see what you're saying.

The conversation was "I can't take the DoD any longer and can't wait until I save up for headers, so what would the tune cost and then how much would it be to update when the headers went in?"

Those were the prices I was given. If I had known something was off about this, I surely would have had Nic do it from the start!!!

I respect his and your reputation on here one hell of a lot and would not want to offend in any way.

Customer service was awesome, everything arrived on time, download went as advertised, and now it's just a matter of getting a SOTP feel for the changes. Should get some time this weekend to drive her, so I'll let you know my impressions. Overall, am very happy with the choice of going this route, and would keep Steve in mind for future business!
