2010 SS - Ground FX Problem

I have a 2010 Cyber Grey SS I've had a little over a year. Today I was washing it and I noticed something peeling on the Ground FX on the driver side at the very bottom of the piece running the length of the panel. It looked almost like there was a film covering the GFX piece and when it peeled away the material underneath was a little duller and darker.

Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas?

Thanks.

It sounds like the clear tape they install to protect the painted surface. I would get some more on there or be prepared for rock chips.

I'm going to take it in to the dealer next week. Right now it's only a section a little smaller than a credit card that is missing the film. I'm assuming they would have to strip it from the whole piece to reinstall?

But actually, my GFX aren't painted to match the car, just the factory color (matte gray / charcoal color). Is the protectant film still installed in that case?

My guess would be yes. Otherwise they would get beat to hell. Even the unpainted finished would get chipped and pitted without the film.
