Aug 1 I become a Delaware resident...

Less than 90 days until we leave Minneapolis and set up camp in Delaware.

My wife will be teaching at the University of Delaware in Newark so it looks like we will be living somewhere in that area. (No idea where yet)

If anyone knows of some nice and reasonably priced apts buildings in the area please let me know. (Ideally 2BR, 2BA....and a garage for my car)

Also just curious if there are any car clubs worth checking out or if any of you get together for cruise-ins or anything like that.

LOL...we dont plan to live anywhere near campus for the reasons mentioned as well as not wanting to deal with loud parties, music, etc...

We've done some poking around on rent.com and other sites and it certainly looks like there are some nice places around. Not as many with garages like there are here...hope that means winters are a little less brutal than here in MN.

Yeah, seems like alot of people settle around the Middletown / Townsend Area if they want to stay up in New Castle County. Personally, after living near a few of the major East Coast cities I like Kent County (not just cause I work in Dover), there are too many people up north for me. good and bad points to both I guess.

Yeah, but then he has to have a front license plate on the sweet ride. LOL Thats one big + for DE---no front tag

Go Hens!!!! (UD93)

Well the other thing is that my job skills are in IT (mainly in the legal industry) and/or litigation support. I suspect I may have to find a job in either Wilmington or Philly so I expect we will be somewhere between Newark and Wilmington.

I dont mind living where there are a lot of people...I love Minneapolis (except the winters) so if Newark/Wilmington is more like a large city Im cool with that. I like that Philly and NYC are as close as they are too...

I understand Im going to need a tint waiver to get plates. (I have 50%)

I saw that any sort of tint on the lights is illegal (i.e. my smoked tail lights and silver/vinyl side makers) I suspect I may have to strip all that off to pass inspection.

Yep.

Oh and by the way winters are alot milder around here for the most part---so the wait time to get the Camaro out is alot shorter

Yeah, I'm not one to pick on small violations, but then again we are all different and it only takes one to ruin your day.

Plus, if he's lucky he can try and get a low digit tag number and apply for a antique black and white tag which will look SWEEET on that SIM just like mine will as soon as I ever get around to ordering it.
Your registration and title fees are alot more as well if memory serves me correctly.

I saw those black plates on the website and indeed I am going to try for one...those are great and as far as cosmetic mods go, Ive tried to keep the modern/retro vibe going so they would be great.

I think I paid around $320 or $350 for new tags this year in Minnesota. (wish I could have bought a 6 month tag)

Now (for the record) while the tails look dark when the car isnt running, they are perfectly bright when on...and even when the car is off, you can see the reflectors perfectly when the sun hits them. Once I get through inspection do I dare re-do any of that stuff?
