Rotor Hats

I've been thinking about painting the rotor hats on my SS flat black. Has anyone done this? Do you think this is a good cosmetic touch? I just want some opinions before I go do it. High temp. paint of course .

Sure why not. It won't hurt them.

It shouldn't be that hard to visualize even if nobody has done it...

Or are you just asking out of durability curiosity? Either way, you posted it in the wrong forum and you won't get many responses. Brakes or cosmetic mods would've been better.

I just got finished painting my rotor hats a close-to-stock aluminum color, since I got a very nasty cleaner on them that stripped their factory protective coating right off and they started to rust.

I used Rustoleum High Heat (2000 degrees Fahrenheit) paint for mine. Be careful with high heat paint, since it can only be cured via heat. Otherwise, even though it's dry to the touch, it scratches and marks very easily until it cures. Drive the car around a lot before cleaning them for awhile and the heat from the braking should cure the paint.

Black should look pretty damn good, if I do say so myself. Where are you going to get gloss black high temp paint?

Also, perhaps you can answer a question for me. The texture for the rotor hats is ridiculously coarse and traps brake dust real easily. How do you clean them without using harsh chemicals? Even agitation doesn't do a good job.
