Avoiding the Stripes

I have read a lot on here about claying, waxing, polishing etc. and most posts mention avoiding the matte black stripes so as not to change the finish on them. What is the best way to avoid them, tape? What kind of tape? I have only had my 2ss for about 10 days and have only had to wash it at this point. I like the dull look of the stripes and don't want to alter them if I can help it.

Thanks,

Cady

Use painters tape on the edges and you should be fine.

Shoot, I never did anything the few times I've washed my car now to avoid the stripes. I'll have to keep this in mind!

Washing is ok, it's waxing, claying, polishing etc. that can change the dull finish of the stripe.

I use Turtle Wax Ice synthetic spray wax(not really a wax) on my strips, seems to work well for 2-3 weeks then repeat after a wash. small amount goes a long way. wash them like the rest of the paint surfaces being careful to whip with the edge of the strips and not accross them.

I have had my car for almost 2 years now and have had zero issues with my stripes. I clayed the car several times just not claying over them... sure i bumped them a time or two... no issues. I polish them with TW Ice as well. It doesnt last too long but its so easy... gives great results!

My factory TE stripes are more of a gloss black, but I also use TW Ice polish and detail spray on them and they still look awesome after 18 months.

So the TW Ice "polishes" them without changing the finish on them? Thanks for the
info, much appreciated.
