Becoming a "car gal"?

I see guys on C5 all the time preface questions by saying "I'm no car guy, so.........." Well I'm definately no car gal, but I am learning a lot since I got Ruby a little over a year ago. So........I took my dad to church this morning in Ruby. I am from a tiny rural community called Stroudsville. Once upon a time it had a school, 2 stores & a church. Now just a church. We are about to walk in the door & I hear the engine of a car approaching. I feel a puzzled look come over my face as I say "That sounds like a Camaro". I turn & see, sure enough a grey Camaro rounding the corner. I was rather impressed with myself! A year ago before I bought this car, if you had told me I'd be able to identify these cars by the sound of the engine, I'd have told you you were crazy. This may not impress you guys but for me, it was kind of a big deal. Then as we were leaving we passed a Bumblebee. I rarely see 2 Camaros in one day in Nashville. Anyway, I just wanted to share.

Anytime I hear of a fellow lady knowing anything about cars, I like it! I'm a huge car nut. Grew up in a car show family, watched my dad and bro rebuild many cars. So I'm proud of you Good job!!

Yay!!! C5 Car Gals unite !! lol...It is so great to see others. I've been a motorhead & car show nut since I was little. My favorite memory is from when I was 5yrs old & driving around the Indy Motor Speedway for a car show over the 4th of July in my Dad's 41 Buick Roadmaster. I was hanging out the window in the back seat waving my flag (which I still have by the way lol). I cant wait to show Maggie to my Dad when he comes up from Florida for a visit. We are already planning on attending the Rt 66 Mother Road show in September here in Springfield.

I know alot about cars before computers but this is new territory for me and I'm really happy I have this site to learn from!

Mustangs are always easy to identify. They all sound the same no matter what exhaust they have but camaros are a bit trickier i think.

I can do this also. I was sitting at my desk at work with my back to the window. I was talking to my boss and i heard a camaro. I said that was a camaro. He said, how do you do that? I answered with, V8. Sure enough it was a SS Camaro.

I am learning so much with having this car. I truely love this car and want to learn all i can.
