That alone makes Akerson a freakin idiot! We do not need aditional taxes of ANY kind in this country at the moment. Raise gas taxes and GM's likely future customers won't be purchasing a new car at all, they won't have the money to pay for it.

Regarding the GenV I'm just asking questions???
Inquiring minds want to know, you know?!

But are you HAVING FUN?????

And you may inquire, but I hold my beans. No beans get spilled. No bean cleaning up required here.

I think we have two potential options.

1. Z/28 = 1SS w/MR, 19 inch light weight wheels, super sticky rubber, GM coded/dealer installed tune, cold-air intake and exhaust (mandatory if this is even possible/legal), 6 speed only, 3:73 gears only, ZR1 front fascia to differentiate from SS and z/28 badges, 6 speed only. If customer wants they can add BA and RS. GM wants to make money right? Priced in the low $40s, plus gas guzzler if gears put the MPG under the threshold (whatever that may be).

2. Z/28 = all of the above with LS7 in place of the LS3 plus ZL1 rear end/half shafts, any and all weight savings/exotic materials, ZL1 brakes. This car could beat the ZL1 on a road course (especially after repeated laps - no heat soak) and equal it in the quarter mile. Of course it is going to cost $65k.

It would seem to me, maybe incorrectly, that a business case could be made for option 1. Option 2 does not seem to be viable.

#3 is a very cool individual who is absolutely on our side. There is nothing that a number of GM engineer / enthusiasts would rather have than a Z28 along the lines of what we are discussing. This take NOTHING away from the spectacular ZL1 coming our way.

Once again, I know a number of GM engineer / enthusiasts and they love performance cars. A thread like this is a nice tool for a motivated GM staffer to help build support for a project like this. I wish this thread had 100,000 views. The more views and posts, the better. I am not suggesting a Chicago style vote early and vote often mentality, but if you know of any seriously motivated potential Z28 buyers, get them to this thread.

Almost 3700 views in two weeks. If we could post "HOT" women on this thread we would have it made.
Let's keep everything in one thread so this one doesn't get robbed.

Great message Pete. And GM would only be smart to listen to a free customer base.

So the GenV V8 is done? Here come turbo V6's. Bye Bye Torque.
And it could have been a boosted V6 that got canned for the 'vette, assuming anything actually did get cancelled that is.

If they built a purposeful LS7 Z/28, with a great suspension, limited options, and a weight savings of 100 lbs over the 1SS for 45K I would be a buyer!!

If they built the LS7 with the LSX block & LSX-DR heads. And put it in the Z/28. I would be a buyer, and I am 61 years old. I have a street rod with the LS7 now. And love it. But the LS7 block/heads are to weak to put NOS on it safely. So give me the LSX stuff, and then I will put a bottle or turbo on it myself. Like I said GM BUILD ONE FINAL BAD ASS Z/28. THAT KICKS ALL THE FORDS AND DODGES ASSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If a Z/28 is under $50k and 500hp SAE rated @ the crank and can beat a Boss 302 lap time, I'd buy one (provided the dealers don't price gouge...)

LS7 would be a dream come true, but I think the engineers can tweak the LS376/480 enough for a Z/28 to outperform a Boss 302.

I would love to see push button start, fine with manual adjustable seats as long as the seats are comfortable (for an average size American male).
No RS option...

I'll add more as I think of it...

Let me throw this out there. Does anyone think that such a Camaro will generate enough lateral g to warrant the LS7s dry sump oil system? The dry sump adds cost and weight you know.
Its not really the dry sump we want, its mostly comes down to that fact that we have no other certified engines at the moment. The LS3 does not rev high enough for what we want and we do not really want a turbo or supercharger, so there goes a possible twin turbo V6 and the LSA and LS9. So since the is really no other engine in use we are left with the LS7, or left crossing our fingers that GM drops the new GenV V8 in the Z28 at the same time as the Vette.
